My family and I (all 16 of us, plus 2 dogs) stayed for a long weekend to celebrate my Granny's 70th. The kitchen was old fashioned, but in a beautiful homely way which is certainly on trend at the moment. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the rest of the house. The games room is a great idea to keep children entertained. The water, which is apparently normal for the island, was a horrible yellow-brown colour which certainly didn't seem as though it was cleaning you. I had been looking forward to having a relaxing bath, however after seeing the colour of the water, I'd rather not sit in such a bath. The floors were dirty, with visible dust in the bathroom of our room, the carpets were worn, as were the many rugs, which also felt jagged. The couches need replacing, there was no plumpness left in them, and when someone happened to pat the couch cushion, all we saw dust coming from the couch, it was horrible. Half of the beds were uncomfortable, or the mattresses slanted, and far too bouncy. When a family of 16 is staying and all need showers, the hot water does not last long, I didn't even have time to wash my body. On the second night of our stay, very late into the night (around 1 or 2am), the fire alarm went off on the far side of the house, not even on the side where the fireplace was, which we first thought could of caused the alarms to be triggered, but this was nearest the games room. This one alarm being triggered in turn set the rest of them off all through the house, which is not what you want when you have several young children, some who were terrified of the idea of there being a real fire. They claim to have wifi, however there isn't any unless you're standing right by the front door where the box is, or in the kitchen only 3 meters away. The house is much closer to the main road than what we originally thought, which did worry us, having two dogs who were running around constantly, and also several small children.
Suleskerry's only saving graces were the extraordinary view from anywhere in the house, and the enjoyment of spending time with family in a place which could hold all of us, and our two dogs.
I would not recommend this house. The owner who was there after we arrived did not go out of her way to greet everyone, not even all the adults, so half of us did not know what was going on, and the other half who had spoken to her all had mixed signals of what she had said.
