Judy welcomed us in person with full access to patio, bikes, kayaks & Duffy Boat… and birthday cupcakes for my husband. Accommodations are excellent & the Duffy boat scenic cruising throughout Balboa was a high point. You can park the Duffy in public areas & many shopping districts have free boat parking as well. Judy baked my husband a bday cake on day 2 - never have had a more hospitable & friendly host experience. Walking distance to restaurants, shops & beaches. There is so much to do, even our teenagers loved it & never once reported being bored (huge victory!). We look forward to future visits & Balboa / Newport get-a-ways!

Not what shows in photos, no ocean view, boat needs repair, Construction debris outside entrance.

We thought this was going to overlook the boat and boat dock as the photos show, but the unit that is rented is in the upper back of the house with no ocean view, no balcony, just a street and alley view. Right outside the door the owner pointed out a lot of construction debris and said "its always there, they are always doing something next door". This wire, drywall, wood, tables, etc was about 4 feet high ans quite an eyesore. The front house is gorgeous and owner occupied, and this is where the deck photos were taken from. They can see you from the kitchen and living area anytime the deck area is used; day or night, no curtains or closures. Owner said they would go upstairs the whole time but each time we tried to go out there, the owner was in the kitchen and we could see him, so he could see us. I took many photos, day and night of this lack of privacy. Not at all private-we did not know we were sharing and could be watched always. The Duffy kept dying, charge was not good. We had to leave it on the ocean and dock it and walk off the island and then get a ride back. Owner said it was a problem for him too, getting it back, "that it must have been the rain, that 1/2 way back it started slowing down again, so I'm was going to get distilled water and check all the connections". The owners are lovely, but our Valentines Weekend was only salvaged once we left and got a hotel room.

Wonderful Hosts and Quiet Area

The hosts are very personable and kind. Having easy access to the Duffy was wonderful for the boat parade. The Duffy is clean and ready to go at any time during your stay. It can seat up to 12 people.The unit is very clean and well appointed. It is upstairs with a street view, but the hosts give full access to the beautiful patio directly on the water. It's great for having breakfast or dinner and has use of the BBQ as well.There were more than enough towels and bedding. In addition, there are plenty of kitchen supplies along with a microwave and toaster/convection oven.

Only communication was through a landline, the TV only worked one of the nights we were there, it was weird coming down to the patio, and knowing we were potentially being watched. Overall, the location was great, and the Duffy boat was fun, but I would not recommend this property.

A couple days away

We loved this location. The accommodations were cute and clean. Judi and Nuel were helpful and friendly. We truly enjoyed the bikes and Duffy boat that were available for us.

Wonderful Spot

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Judy was so kind and genuinely welcoming. After check in, we had total privacy and used the Duffy Boat and bikes multiple times per day. The location is great. We will definitely be back.

AMAZING!

This is our new vacation spot and we are already planning next's years trip. The Bensons were amazing to work with and took care of our family above and beyond anything we could have asked for. The location is about a 3 minute walk to beach and in a great location. I would recommend this VRBO to anyone going to Newport!!!!

Perfect stay for your getaway with friends!

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend this year with friends visiting from Europe. The patio and Duffy boat are great for hanging out enjoying the water. Perfect location for exploring nearby beaches. Friendly hosts Would highly recommend!

Husband’s Birthday

Stayed in the apartment 9/6/24 thru 9/9/24. Very small but if you’re only there to sleep and take a shower it’s perfect for 4 adults. The owners are downstairs but they were very nice. Use the electric boat 2 times. That was very fun. Easy to drive. Take lunch or drinks with you on the boat.

Some things to note...

Carefully review the property's photos to understand that the kitchenette doesn't have an oven/stove only a microwave and toaster oven. Also, we were disappointed to learn that the patio was separate from the unit. The unit is in the back (facing the ocean not bay side), above the garage of the owner's house, so the patio is the owner's patio that is attached right outside of their living room, so there is no real privacy. Therefore, to enjoy the outdoor patio you had to go downstairs and along the side of the home to the owner's patio facing the bay. They are are lovely couple, but we always felt like we were intruding on their property, so we didn't use the outdoor space as much as we liked. Also, the washer and dryer is in the owner's garage.

Best vacation ever!

This was the most magnificent vacation of all time. The stay on the bay was such a bonus, and just a few blocks from the beach. The duffy boat, kayaks, and paddle boards were so much fun! There is a parking spot in front of the garage. And the owners, Nuel and Judi are so incredible

Prime location

The location is perfect with everything in walking distance. We liked having the Duffy, paddle boards and bikes. It gave my family lots of options for individual activities. We enjoyed our stay. It was our second time at this place. We’d stay there again. The hosts are wonderful people.

Great location!

The location is beautiful! This area is great and with the duffy it was really fun! Most people had a duffy on the bay so everyone was cruising around on them. I stayed here with my wife, my 16 year old son, and my 19 year old son and his 19 year old fiancee and we all had a great time! There was more room in the house than it looks like online. Noal and Judi were great! They were there to help anytime you had any questions about the area like places to eat or where to go locally, but they also never imposed on your space. The whole back porch on the water was always ours to hang out on or grill out. I wanted to invite Judi and Noal to eat with us i saw them so scarcely. The paddle boards and bikes were alot of fun and my kids loved to paddle around the water out get on the bikes and ride up to get coffee and donuts in the morning before everyone else was awake. I will admit i was kind of hesitant to rent a property with the owners at the same area but it worked out great! They seemed to only be there if you needed them. So if your hesitant don't be.... you WON'T be disappointed! In the earlier posts saying you couldn't take the duffy whenever you wanted to, or that they would go with you on the boat, that didn't happen Sitting on the back porch watching the moon and lights reflect off the water at night is so beautiful and peaceful! I have this property saved because my father in law lives in this area, so if i go to visit again, I'll be rebooking this property.

Quiet cozy quality on the back canal!

Judi and Nuel are gracious hosts, providing amenities to make guests feel at home. The Duffy, the two nice bikes, the gas grill, the two beach chairs and more were super nice to have use of.

Apartment with a duffy

The stay was wonderful and the Duffy was fabulous. It should be noted this apartment was on top of where the owners live, and the back patio is outside the owner’s living room with a large window that overlooks. Guests sometimes prefer owners not to be in such close proximity. If this isn’t an issue to a guest, then I highly recommend the place!

Felt welcome from the first email contact and the hosts were absolutely lovely... brought the kids fresh fruit and took us for a boat ride to show us around before we went out ourselves ( at our request). Accommodations were great and location can't be beat. Highly recommend.

Our favorite vrbo away from home.

We have stayed at this place I believe 3-4 times and it is always our favorite. The host are beyond amazing. We love seein them. They always give a warm welcoming. We love to take the boat out on the water. And the kids love riding there bikes and exploring the neighborhood or visiting the park right next door to the house.

I am a Southwest Airlines flight attendant and have been able to travel the world and meet so many great people. My husband Nuel is a boat guy and fishing and talking is his specialty. He has just renovated his 33 ft, trawler and would love you to see it or go on a boat ride with him. We have been married for ever and love it here in beautiful Newport Beach on the bay.Love to watch the gondolas and swimmers go right by the patio. The bay in our back yard is as good as it gets anywhere in the world. We walk to restaurants, movies, and of course on the sand to watch the sunset. Our property is newly decorated in a vacation beach theme and I am certain you will love it. Have fun here and make some lasting memories.We have 2 bicycles.2 paddle boards 2 boogie boards. beach chairs, a basketball and a ride in our boat for our guests and maybe even their friends. Have fun in the sun right here in beautiful Newport Beach California. The duffy boat and patio and all the toys are for your use only while you are here. The boat is really quite easy to drive and fun too.
