À propos de cet hébergement
Ocean Drive - a lodge that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
JUST ADDED TO OUR PORTFOLIO
Ocean Drive is a newly constructed spacious timber clad lodge, with breath taking views across the hills towards the coast offering modern, luxurious accommodation all on one level for 6. The lodge is located just under 2 miles from the picturesque small rural town of Gatehouse of Fleet which provides numerous opportunities for eating out - we highly recommend The Galloway Lodge for breakfast or lunch and The Masonic offers great food and beer! small shops, a delightful and testing nine hole golf course, tennis courts, river and loch fishing. As the area is situated within the Galloway Forest Park, nominated Britain's first Dark Sky Park, a clear night will present amazing opportunities for star gazing with the naked eye.
There are numerous nearby attractions and activities for both adults and children, including Cream o' Galloway where you can participate in ice cream and cheese making workshops, stroll round their nature trails and of course enjoy delicious ice cream afterwards. The Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory offers both indoor and outdoor play areas and chocolate making workshops. Slightly further afield is Galloway Activity Centre which offers both land and water-based activities on the shores of Loch Ken.
Sandy beaches and rocky coves for bathing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and sailing are within a short drive, the nearest being about 3 miles away; sea fishing and horse riding are also available nearby; the Forestry Commission 7Stanes mountain biking trail at Kirroughtree is around 30 minutes' drive away; and the area is a haven for wildlife, with regular sightings of deer, red squirrels, and red kites. From the lodge there are extensive walks and mountain bike rides over hills, past lochs, through forestry and down the valley. Slightly further afield but well worth a visit are; Kirkcudbright known as the Artist's Town due to its links with the Glasgow Boys. The town is also home to the Dark Sky Planetarium, Kirkcudbright Galleries, a cookery school, community run swimming pool, 18 hole golf course, and an array of independent shops and eateries. The small town of Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town is a must for all bookworms, both young and old. To the east is the popular market town of Castle Douglas, with its vibrant high street of unique independent shops, cafes and restaurants, theatre and cinema, swimming pool and golf course. NTS Threave Estate is located on the edge of the town with Threave House & Gardens and Threave Castle all worth a visit. Also worthy of a visit are Logan Botanical Gardens with varied species and specimens supported due to the mild climate that the area has from the effect of the Atlantic Gulf Stream. For those who fancy sampling a local tipple there are several Gin & Whisky distilleries within easy reach and include Dark Sky Distillery in Kirkcudbright, Crafty Distillery at Newton Stewart and Bladnoch Distillery near Wigtown.
