Town: West Quantoxhead is a small village on the edge of the Quantock Hills in West Somerset, and is a mile from the small sandy beach of St Audries. The bay is the sandiest around here and has something for everyone including rock pools, a waterfall and a chance to find some 200 million year old fossils. The Quantock countryside is among the finest in England and was the first to be awarded the national status of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and Quantock Common is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The hills provide almost 50 square miles of open heathland, woodland, small villages and farmland, with some beautiful countryside for walking, horse riding and bird watching. There are also well-known walking routes passing virtually through West Quantoxhead village including the Coleridge Way, Macmillan Way and Somerset Coastal Path.
