À propos de cet hébergement
LAMORNA COTTAGE, pet friendly, with open fire in Chipping Norton
Lamorna Cottage is a charming, totally private, pet-friendly, detached Cotswold cottage with a woodburning stove and beautiful garden in the centre of Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.
Lamorna Cottage is a gem of a traditional Cotswold detached cottage hidden in the heart of Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.
It is totally private, away and from the road, with a wonderful garden completely secluded from view. The charm of the cottage is its unbelievable peace, privacy and quiet.
Equipped to the best standards this holiday home has loads of original features and tonnes of character.
The cottage is down an original old close, accessed off the prettiest road in Chipping Norton.
Lamorna Cottage is a well-loved, happy house, and was the owners’ family home for 20 years. It is great for families, great for friends, perfect for a weekend away, a short holiday or a long retreat.
The cottage is a lovely place to socialise and explore the area, or a secluded space to work or write or create.
You approach the cottage down the close, past a traditional drying green.
Enter the cottage into the hall, off which is the downstairs loo/shower.
The kitchen ahead is small but mighty and comes with the owners’ favourite cookery books and a full complement of appliances and cookware.
The snug/sitting room has a woodburning stove, soft lighting and cosy sofas and sits off the dining room/library.
The dining room with a reading area and the dining table is filled with light and opens out onto the cottage garden and patio.
Upstairs you will find three bright and beautiful bedrooms and the family bathroom; the views from the two double bedrooms are out over the garden towards the Cotswold landscape and the 15th-century church. The single room looks out to a charming jumble of Cotswold houses.
Outside, the very sweet cottage garden works hard in its space; in the summer, you can sit in the sun as it moves around, from breakfast to dinner, and hide in the shade when the sun is too strong.
You will be able to pick strawberries, raspberries or apples in season, and around the garden doors are herbs for cooking.
There is a patio for outside formal dining and a deck for barbecuing beside a long lazy daybed.
Across the road is The Chequers, best pub in Chippy, and the world-famous Chippy Theatre, which produces the highly regarded Christmas Pantomime as well as productions straight from Edinburgh and the West End.
A short walk from the alley are the butchers, bakers, supermarket and the rest; Chipping Norton is a busy town with a Wednesday market, fantastic bookshops, loads of good coffee hangouts, a cinema and theatre, a lido in the summertime and some lovely independent shops.
All of the owners’ local knowledge is shared in the house welcome book, but you are within easy reach of amazing walks and small, exquisitely beautiful Cotswold villages.
Nearby are fabulous gardens, such as Rousham, Batsford Arboretum and Cotswold Wildlife Park, and stately homes, including Blenheim, Sezincote, Chastleton, and Hidcote, You can also find the popular Diddly Squat Farm Shop, as seen on Clarkson's Farm, Daylesford, Wychford Pottery, with further amenities in the lovely towns of Stow-on-the-Wold (9 miles) Woodstock (11 miles) Burford (11 miles), Oxford (20 miles), Stratford-upon-Avon (22 miles) and Soho Farmhouse is in easy reach (7.6 miles).
The award-winning Deddington farmers market is a short drive away (last Saturday of the month).
Parking in the street is busy, but rarely is there a problem. Sometimes visitors have to engage patience; it is a small price to pay for peace - right in the centre of this lovely market town.
Please note that some of the privacy is due to the location down a short alley off the street, there are steps (5 and then two), plus the house was originally two cottages, so there are more steps inside, from each room to the next on the ground floor.
The cottage is available when the owners are working away, making a unique opportunity for you to book a perfect family home for a fantastic Cotswold adventure; base yourself in Lamorna Cottage, and you will find that it is an ideal home-from-home in which to relax, and entertain, and explore.
