For effortless exploration further afield, take a train into the North York Moors – the station’s less than 400 metres from your front door. A 5-mile drive south along the Heritage Coastline will lead to Robin Hood’s Bay, where quaint cottages spill down from the clifftop to a sandy foreshore. Head 3 miles north instead and Sandsend is a gorgeous seaside village with a long stretch of beach.
