Au milieu du parc national du Gros-Morne, désigné comme site du patrimoine mondial par l'UNESCO, se trouve le pittoresque village de Rocky Harbour.

Le village est une enclave dans le parc national du Gros-Morne, et donc les résidents et les touristes sont semblables à proximité de sentiers avec des vues spectaculaires, des excursions en bateau, piscine couverte chauffée avec bain à remous et croix-comté pistes de ski en saison de randonnée.

Notre maison est située sur la rive sud de Rocky Harbour. Il possède sa propre plage et le quai. Rocky Harbour est un port de pêche de travail alors attendez de voir les pêcheurs se diriger vers le phare dans les premières heures du matin et revenir les bras chargés avec des prises de milieu de la matinée. Notre quai et la plage se rassemblent les épaves d'un port de pêche. Bien que les soins doivent être prises lors de la lecture dans ce domaine, beaucoup de plaisir peut être eu explorer la plage fossicking trésors lavés par la mer.

La location est une maison moderne et spacieuse (1400 sq. Ft., Ou 130 sq. Mètres) sur le bord de l'eau. La véranda / terrasse couverte est un endroit idéal pour asseoir avec une tasse de matin de café ou de thé pour lire un livre ou tout simplement profiter de la solitude de la journée de rupture. Au printemps, l'été et l'automne, il est idéal pour manger en plein air, en regardant le soleil dip à l'horizon.

Que ce soit en hiver (généralement plus doux que sur le continent en raison du climat maritime) ou en été (plus frais, pour la même raison), la région offre de multiples possibilités d'activités de plein air. La baignade est réservée aux âmes une forte volonté (température de l'eau varie de 12 à 16C degrés en été et de 0 à 5C degrés en hiver).

La chambre principale offre un aperçu de Gros Morne de la fenêtre de la chambre, qui révèle les couleurs changeantes et le caractère de ce relief impressionnant. La chambre est meublée avec goût avec lit et chevet Queen tables, linge de lit de qualité et a sa propre dressing et salle de bains.

Perfect place in a perfect location...

The house is perfect, in great shape, very clean, and perfectly located for enjoying Gros Morne National Park hiking trails that are both north and south of the house location. Best place for a "fresh breakfast" and at least one dinner is Java Jack's. Again, perfect place to stay with a back porch to enjoy the start and end of the day.

Great house, Great location

My son and I recently visited New Foundland for his high school graduation. The house was perfect. It was very clean and perfectly located for our daily outings into Gros Morne National Park. The house had all of the amenities for our trip and allowed us to cook several meals at home and also visit some great local restaurants. Also the deck views of the water with my morning coffee were remarkable as I waited for the 18 yr old son to wake up. We often went from dense fog to complete sunshine or from sunshine to dense fog and mist while he was snoozing. I hope to return.

Stay in Rocky Harbour

The house was nice but not the most comfortable. We would have loved to have a coffee by the water or even on the back deck but there were no comfortable chairs to sit on. There were 4 folding little wood chairs and after a long hike you can’t possibly be comfortable on them. The earwig situation in the house made us very uncomfortable.

Felt like coming home

Well appointed home that had almost everything that we needed. We had a problem with the WiFi but they were in the midst of resolving it and dealt with us quite fairly. We had lots of activities scheduled in and around Rocky Harbour and if felt like coming home at the end of each day. Lovely home and welcoming host. Thank you!

Great place to use as your base to explore Gros Morne

The house was easy to find, furnished beautifully and had plenty of room for the 4 of us. It was nice that each couple had their own bathrooms and each bathroom had a box of fancy soaps and lotion. The kitchen was well equipped and there was also an electric Bar-B-Q on the deck for our use. The backyard backed onto the bay and together with the small beach behind the house gave us an amazing view of the sunsets. There was lots of literature about the area as well as cds and dvds provided to us and Wi-Fi was excellent. The property manager, Beverly, met us promptly and was nothing but professional and friendly, patiently answering all of our questions. She even brought us bottled water the night before when the town was going to temporarily turned off the water for maintenance the next morning. Also the owner, Marcel, himself called to ensure that we were not put out by the temporary loss of electricity, also shut down by the town for maintenance at one point during our stay and to make sure we were happy with the accommodations. It showed us that he wasn’t just interested in running his rental as a business but as a home. We would definitely recommend this place!

Beautiful cottage

This is likely the cleanest, best equipped vacation rental we have ever had the pleasure to visit. Located in the charming village of Rocky Harbour, it is ideally situated from which to explore Gros Morne National Park. We loved being able to walk around the village to experience the culture and the food. Marcel and Ruth take great care in equipping their lovely cottage with books about local life, brochures and maps, games and pretty well anything a couple or family would want to add to their stay. In fine weather it is a pleasure sitting out on the verandah and gazing at the water and mountains. Walk down to the water at sunset and experience the beautiful colours playing on the water and the mountains. Gorgeous!

Beautiful Location and Home

Amazing Location in Gros Morne National Park

Just wanted to say thanks again for our stay at the Jolly Moose. We all enjoyed our stay there very much. It is a great house in an amazing location. It was more than we expected. Just wonderful!

My husband and I and our two teenage sons stayed at the Jolly Moose and had a great time. The house is remarkably clean, nicely decorated and well- outfitted; certainly the most tidy and comfortable of all of our rental experiences. The location is perfect: lovely view of Rocky Harbor, quick drives to great hikes and awesome restaurants and a quick walk into town. The kitchen is small but so well laid out that cooking was a joy. We feel so lucky to have stayed at the Jolly Moose!

Excellent family vacation location.

We stayed at the Jolly Moose very recently for four nights. During our tour of the northern peninsula we had stayed in nice hotels but were grateful to have the space, cooking/laundry facilities and dvd collection at our disposal. Its a great location to stay and see the park. Tom and Edna were very accommodating and we didn't want for anything. The residence was perfect for our family of four. Other than the Dinner Theatre, we ate all of our meals at the house overlooking the water, including our own catches, the local Fish Market and take-out from Earles and Jackies restaurants. The Cow Head Dinner Theatre and numerous hiking and fishing opportunities are a must. One tip..if going to the Ocean View to see the local music, please go early and make appropriate inquiries, we couldn't get in at 8:30 at night as it was already full. Thanks Marcel for making our dream trip to Newfoundland so memorable.

Location & comfort

My friend and I stayed at the Jolly Moose for a week and couldn't have been happier. First of all, Rocky Harbour couldn't be a more convenient base for all of one's Gros Morne forays. And the house itself is comfortable, with a lovely porch looking out over the bay. The perfect place to catch gorgeous sunsets. The owner is quick to respond to any questions. Word of advice: Although we loved our visit and saw quite a lot, we went a little too early in the season. The famed boat trip in the fjord was not yet operating and a few of the hikes were still impassable due to snow. So I'd suggest early June through September (a local told me that September is an ideal time to visit; it's post tourist season but everything is still accessible).

Once upon a time, a New Zealand woman met a Quebec man at the water's edge. They fell in love.

For a few years, they traveled a lot between New Zealand and Quebec to be together. One day, the New Zealander made Quebec her adopted home. She liked it there, but she missed the sea, so one spring she asked her Quebecer: "Take me to the sea". Wanting the best for her, the Quebecer took her to Newfoundland. They fell in love again, with Newfoundland.

For a few months, they traveled extensively between Newfoundland and Quebec to spend time together on the Rock (Newfoundland is often referred to as "the Rock" because the place is ... rocky, to say the least). It wasn't long before they wanted a pied-à-terre in their adopted land and bought a house on the waterfront. A loop had just been completed.

They'd like to settle there someday, so they could follow moose tracks in the snow in the winter, whales on the sea in the summer and Newfoundlanders at the pub the rest of the time. On that day, the New Zealander turned New Canadian will be a New Newfoundlander, and the Quebecer will be, well, a Quebecer.

In the meantime, they are happy to offer their home to people who share their interest in travel and adventure and who are not afraid to fall in love.
