Hortensias House (Maison des Hortensias) est une maison de plage à Moinhos, Porto Formoso. Maison entièrement meublée avec une chambre, une salle de bains, une douche extérieure, salon, cuisine, 3 terrasses. Petit jardin. 2 minutes à pied d'une plage délicieuse et 2 restaurants locaux. 10 minutes en voiture de Ribeira Grande et environ 20 minutes en voiture de Ponta Delgada. Terrain de golf Furnas à seulement 15 km (15 minutes en voiture)
Très bien situé pour visiter toute l'île, environ 35 à 50 minutes en voiture de chaque extrémité de l'île.

Très belle situation, maison vraiment bien équipée

La maison des Hortensia est très confortable, très très bien équipée, d'une propreté impeccable... Elle est située à flanc de colline face à l'océan : la terrasse avec vue partielle mais agréable sur la baie des Moinhos est vraiment très agréable. Un bémol sur l'ile de Sao Miguel : si l'ile est magnifique, très fleurie, émaillée de paysage extraordinaire, les plages sont polluées et les petits cours d'eau pourris par l'agriculture : l'élevage laitier intensif est en particulier une catastrophe pour l'environnement... la pollution qui en découle affecte même une partie des lacs et des sources thermales....dommage, c'est la patrimoine des insulaires et aussi de l'humanité qui est ainsi grevé lourdement.

Visiting Porto Formoso

We very much enjoyed our stay at Casa das Hortencias! Although our time there was wet and windy, we found lots to do. From hiking to shopping, to exploring or spending quiet time indoors, we all found entertainment. The house was well supplied with kitchen equipment and we made good use of it all. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms worked as they should. In total, a very good experience.

Breathtaking Island

Our group of 5 adults had a wonderful week at House of Hydrangeas, a very comfortable home with a beautiful view of the ocean. It was so relaxing hearing the surf and the waterfall. The house was in the perfect central location for day trips to explore all parts of the island. Parking spaces were available right in front of the house.The house had everything you needed to cook meals and was also very near to excellent restaurants. Self check in/check out was very convenient and Jose was easy to reach. It was exciting to see the hydrangeas at the house in full bloom in late September!

Beautiful house and location

The views from this property are stunning and the little beach at the bottom of the hill is perfect for a quick dip. Excellent location and very quiet. Parking in front of the door. Comfortable, spacious house with all amenities. Highly recommended.

This lovely home is centrally located for exploring the island. The host communicated well. The house had every single thing we needed to stay comfortably. The view from two terraces was spectacular. We highly recommend this property.

Perfect Place

Such and amazing home and the location and views were better than we could have imagined. The hosts provided everything we could have needed and the tea and treats they left for us upon arrival were a lovely surprise. Perfect location to easily get to Furnas and Ribeira Grande. Beach cafe and restaurant within walking distance served delicious food. If we ever return we would stay here again!

Sao Miguel holiday

Had a wonderful time at José's property. It was exactly as advertised. Quiet area, beautiful views, and your own personal waterfall. Beach just a few minutes walk, and centrally located to the entire island. Having a washing machine came in handy, and the outdoor shower was perfect. Parking on the steep hill with a stick shift can be a little bit exciting but outside of that everything was a breeze. Would definitely stay again.

A great stay in a perfect location...

Jose was a wonderful host who was very responsive and helpful when we had a small crisis (not with the property). The location was perfect for us -- centrally located on the island, allowing for easy day trips in any direction. Both restaurants within walking distance were very good, and the village of Moinhos itself was picturesque, and one of our favorite places of the entire trip. The property was great, having everything we needed. We would not hesitate to book here again -- one of our very best VRBO experiences.

Beautiful home and view

The property was very clean, cozy and exactly as advertised. Jose was very responsive to all emails and flexible with our checkin/checkout times. The house is walking distance to 3 restaurants. We enjoyed two meals at Joseph's beach bar/restaurant Praia Moinhos. It is literally steps from the house and located on the beach. Our weather was rough but, Jose has a fireplace and everything we needed to build a cozy fire and play cards with our grandsons. I would love to stay here again during the Summer months and enjoy all of the decks of the house and more time of the beautiful beach.

Though we would not go in March again because of the rainy/cloudy weather, we would give this place a big thumbs up for location, quietness, and view. Fairly priced, and central to several island highlights, we had a very comfortable stay.

50th Anniversary in the Azores

We picked this rental from the pictures of its locale, the pictures and description of the rental itself and the previous renter reviews. We were not disappointed. The home was very clean, comfortably furnished, completely equipped and ideally located. The ocean view from the first floor and second floor terraces was breathtaking. We were about five minutes walk from a large sandy beach with terrific wave and surf activity. The soothing sound of the surf was audible all day and night. Hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty were walking distance away and provided spectacular hillside and ocean views. Our host was most hospitable. This was our first overseas rental and our host's warm and pleasant manner, his attention to our needs and the ease of contact with him added to a wonderful vacation experience.

A perfect holiday

We were allowed to spend a great week in the House. The Location of the house is perfect to explore the entire Island and close to a beautiful beach. The House is very well equipped and was very clean. Many thanks to the friedly landlord.

Wonderful stay at House of Hydrangeas

Our family spent 2 weeks at this lovely house. Its exactly as described on VCBO. Lots of room for 6 people, and the views.... incredible. José was easily available online for any questions. Two restaurants within a 5 minite walk. One beach food, the other fine dining. Bring your hiking shoes. Would definitely stay again.

Traumurlaub

Wir kannten den kleinen Strand aus einem vorherigen Urlaub. Also suchten wir für unsere Woche ein Strand in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Strand: Angekommen konnten wir die Schlüssel ganz einfach über einen Schlüsselsafe entnehmen. Netterweise konnten wir bereits am Mittag einchecken. Uns erwartete eine kleine Getränkeauswahl und sogar ein paar lokale Süßigkeiten als Willkommensgruß. Darüber haben wir uns sehr gefreut. Das Haus der Hortensien liegt ideal und sehr ruhig über der Bucht am Praiha dos moinhos. Am Ende sind es vielleicht 3min zu Fuß, die auch unsere Kinder (2&5) machen konnten. Das Haus ist groß genug für 6 Personen. Es verfügt über eine komplett ausgestattete Küche, einen Steingrill und eine traumhafte Terrasse. Die beiden Bäder sind modern, es gibt eine Waschküche mit eigener Möglichkeit zu zum Trocknen von Kleidung. Es ist liebevoll eingerichtet umd liegt auch günstig im Norden von Sao Miguel, um bon hier aus die Insel zu erkunden. Der Lagoa do fogo und die caldera velha liegen wenige Minuten emtfernt. Furnas ist in 25min zu erreichen. Wir werden gerne wiederkommen. Wir haben noch nie ein derartig schöne und mit Liebe geführte Unterkunft gehabt.

Perfect Family Getaway

José was so helpful and responsive to all my questions before and after making our reservation. The property was even more beautiful in person! Our family had 4 adults and 3 kids, and the space and location were perfect for us. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the beach was a short walk away. We spent a lot of time at the beach (Praia dos Moinhos). Having an outdoor shower, clothesline, and washer just inside the property was very convenient. Other visitors had left body boards that our kids (ages 6, 8, and 11) had fun using. José’s local restaurant recommendations did not disappoint. Definitely check out Maré Cheia for the best seafood and hospitality. We also went to Ribeira Grande to get some food at the supermarket, check out town life on a Sunday (so many musical and dance performances, horse rides for kids), and we got the best red velvet cake for my daughter’s birthday at A Merenda. José’s property was convenient to drive from to explore other areas like Lagoa do Fogo, Furnas (Poca da Dona Beija was our favorite thermal pools), hiking in Sete Cidades, and whale watching from Ponta Delgada. José was quick to answer any questions during our stay. We would love to return because week on Sao Miguel just flew by!

Perfect vacation location

We cannot say enough good about this house. Perfect location on the island, within range of everything but not in the crowd of the city. Walking distance to the best beach on the island (and good hiking trails). House is beautiful, was clean and well-stocked when we arrived. Plenty of space for our family, and a nice view. We will absolutely be looking to return to this property when we return to the island.

Great Location

The view from the deck was awesome. We walked down the hill to the beach every day. Some days the waves were beauties. We bought boogie boards and left them there. Try them out. The walking trails in the neighborhood are fantastic. Check out the waterfall and the cliff platform overlooking the beach. We went to the cliffs after dark and the stars are amazing. An added bonus was even though other parts of the island were gloomy and raining our side of the island was usually sunny..especially in the afternoon. It does not get dark until almost 10PM. Everyone was super nice in the neighborhood and at the beach bar the chickens will keep you entertained while you sip you your Super Boch’s. It is a quick ride to the city or Furnas. So many fun things to do on the island. I highly recommend canyoneering. We all shed a tear when we rolled down the hill on our last day. We will be back!

Jose was quick to respond to our questions. The view is amazing ! The villa has everything you need. Plenty of room for the five of us! There are three balconies. We have no complaints. I highly recommend staying at this villa. Sao Miguel is breathtaking. Thanks for the memories

Perfekter Aufenthalt in schöner Umgebung

Wir haben einen tollen Urlaub verbracht. Das Haus ist super eingerichtet und ruhig gelegen und man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Von der Terrasse aus hat man einen tollen Blick aufs Meer. Die Küchenausstattung ist perfekt. In der Nähe ist ein schöner Strand und eine nette Bar sowie ein Restaurant. Ein Supermarkt ist schnell mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge zu den Highlights der Insel. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war unkompliziert und wir können die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen!
