comfy, cozy and walkable

Took my daughters to DC for the first time and Ellen's place was perfect. Perfectly close and walkable, comfortable and safe historic neighborhood, and cozy after a long day of walking. The place was roomy, the kitchen was well-equipped, the Netflix was a nice touch, and we had a number of amenities that made it home-like. Ellen was very communicative and we enjoyed our stay.

12 Days - 12 Museums

This warm and comfortable Capitol Hill apartment was the perfect base for our late winter one-museum-a-day visit to DC. We felt at home as soon as our bags were unpacked. All but one of our destinations were within easy walking distance from our front door. The neighborhood restaurants were wonderful. Excellent groceries and pharmacy a few blocks away. Hosts were helpful and responsive to our needs. All in all a wonderful experience.

fragrance free paradise

We came for the People's March in DC. Finding a safe harbor is so difficult in the calmest of times and my hosts went out of their way to make sure their rental was fragrance free, comfy and calming all around. They even had gluten free fresh baked goods waiting for us on the counter when we arrived. Such kindness will stay with me in a time when kindness means everything. The apartment was clean and comfy and a beautiful respite for our stay in a chaotic time in DC.

Great location and nice host and neighbors. Easily walkable. Quiet area and plenty of street parking at this time of year. Our host was great about communicating with is even when we had last minute snafus. Property was as described which was plenty of room for us and cozy. Not fancy but functional.

Quaint Apartment & Great Location

Perfect apartment for visiting our nation's capitol! Only a 15 minute walk to Union Station to catch the Metro. We had a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 adult children. Pretty tight quarters if you plan on staying in the apartment for long periods of time. We were usually out early and came back late so no problem for us. The apartment had a nice full kitchen, W/D, and the hosts thought of almost anything you might need and responded quickly.

Great place to stay

Easy check in and check out, clean apartment, and had all the essentials needed. It's a great central location to the subway which was convenient because we could just park our car the entire time and not drive again until we left. The owners are very responsive as well.

Great Place

We enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect. Great location - walking distance to most things we wanted to do. Easy process to check in and great communication from host. Even though it is a basement apartment it was very quiet and felt homey. House has everything you need. Neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe. We would definitely stay here again.

So Much to See and Do!

What a wonderful vacation! Our apartment had plenty of room for three adults and was exceptionally clean. Ellen and Bill provided a comprehensive list of things to do, where to go and how to get there. Stanton Park is a beautiful neighborhood and within walking distance of Union Station. It’s the perfect location for a quick trip to the market or for an extensive day of touring the monuments, the White House or Capitol grounds. This was by far one of the best family vacations I’ve ever taken and I highly recommend Ellen and Bill as your hosts. Thank you for your hospitality.

Great stay in DC

This place is wonderful! It is in Capital Hill and was a perfect location to use as our home base. Would be great for a couple or small family (but likely not for 4 adults). It was very clean. Ellen is quickly responsive to any questions. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied. The neighborhood was safe and a fun place to walk. There is a small grocery just a few blocks away and a Whole Foods and Giant larger stores about a 10 min walk. We walked to and from the downtown area daily but if you want the metro, it is a 10 min walk to the stop at Union Station. We will definitely consider staying here again.

Great location

Easy access to everything we needed. Owners were very responsive to requests and keeping things stocked up. The table was very small since it had to double as a desk etc. More than 2 could not eat at it. Another footstool would go a long way towards making it comfortable. Very quiet neighborhood but only a few blocks from transit, restaurants etc. Very walkable

Anniversary get away

We had a wonderful relaxing vacation here. The rental is perfect for a couple with just enough space to be able to spread out and relax. Walking distance to union station is 10 minutes. We were able to catch free buses or low cost transportation from there to anywhere we wanted to go. We come from a very rural area and we were very happy with the quietness of this rental so sleep was not an issue.

This basement apartment is perfect! Close to public transportation, restaurants and grocery stores! We were very pleased with this location and will stay there again if we return to Washington. We appreciated the small details such as basic necessities, a wristband for the key, coffee/tea pods, and an ice pack in the freezer to use with our packed lunches! Comfy Bed, Awesome Shower!

I stayed for a week and spouse/daughter came for several days. Apartment accommodated the three of us very well. We had everything we needed, the hosts were very friendly and easy to reach, and the neighborhood is cheery and easy to navigate.

Delightful stay in DC

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cozy and comfortable apartment. The location on a quiet street just blocks away from restaurants and shopping was perfect. It is also near a beautiful little park where we enjoyed relaxing and watching dogs at play. It was immaculately clean and the kitchen was stocked with all we needed - especially coffee pods and a Keurig for our morning eye opener! The host was very helpful and communicative - she gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations. We also loved the warm decor, along with the many books lining the bookshelves and games available to play. This was the perfect place for us to relax and recharge while visiting the many attractions in DC.
