About The Lake: Water temperatures in the summer are typically in the 70's. Being a small tempered lake, Duck Lake is swim-able all summer long - no need to worry about harsh conditions. Duck Lake is a 123-acre natural lake. Maximum depth is 39 feet. Common Fish in the lake are Bluegill, Large-mouth Bass, Sunfish and Yellow Perch. We commonly see Ducks, Geese, Mute Swans, Herons, Cranes and Loons to name a few. Beach sand has been added to the shore for enjoyable accessibility, but you may find some natural vegetation here and there. A Bald Eagle is a frequent visitor and we expect he will return for this season! *Quiet time on the lake begins at 11:00 pm.
In The Area: On the last Sunday of the month through September is Michigan's largest antique show, Allegan Antiques Market, with over 400 exhibitors just 15 minutes away. Visit the new Tanger outlet mall in Byron Center only 39 miles away. For you gamblers, Gun Lake Casino is just 34 minutes away. Easy 30 minute drive to enjoy the amenities of South Haven located right on Lake Michigan - Check out their farmers market every Saturday too! Like to golf? Cheshire Hills Golf Course offers 27 holes of challenging golf with typically at least 9 holes open to walk up golfers. If you get the urge, go, it's less than a mile away! Also be sure to bring your bikes as the 33 mile Kal-Haven trail is only a 10 minute drive away.
We are excited to accommodate your stay!
*Algae Note: Duck Lake experienced Harmful Algae Blooms (HABs) earlier in the spring of 2024. Have fun in the water, but always look for HABs. Below is advice to follow from the Allegan County Health Department if you plan on swimming in Duck Lake this Summer.
- HABs look like spilled paint, pea soup, floating scums, mats, sheens, clumps, or streaks
- Keep yourself, children, and pets out
- Do not touch water or shoreline with algal blooms
- Do not swim near algal blooms
- Feel free to swim in clear water
- Always rinse off after swimming
- Always rinse pets off after any water contact
