Rustic Ocean View Beach House - BEST Location in Ocean View! 2 bed/1 bath House

This 2 bedroom/ 1 bathroom 1500 square foot house sits directly on the beach and only steps away from the Ocean View Fishing Pier and Rooftop Bar and Grill, and is conveniently located near Downtown Norfolk, Virginia Beach Oceanfront, Chic's Beach, Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, the Navy and Air Force bases, and many other attractions! There is WiFi, a brand new 50" Smart TV in the living room, 40" smart TVs in each bedroom, memory foam mattresses, 4x window AC units to keep the house very cool, a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor furniture and seating area, a fishing kayak with paddle (and stand up paddleboard coming soon) and everything you need for the perfect vacation!
The first picture is the view from the back porch of the house. It is a 100 year old house that has recently undergone renovations including new floors, cabinetry, bathroom, brand new window AC/heat units, and appliances, including an arcade machine with hundreds of games including Pac-Man and Galaga.
There is a queen bed in bedroom 1 and two twin beds in bedroom 2. If you need to use the sofa bed or additional twin bed stored in the sunroom, please request linens for those ahead of time.

Beach access is wonderful

If you are looking for a place right on the beach, this is it. The house was clean, furnishings are older but you are on the beach. You are right next to a public fishing pier. Pier is busy as is the parking lot, so not a quiet place to stay. If noise doesn’t bother you, you will enjoy this beach house.

Overall was well below expectations

Location was great, but the property was not kept up, grass was overgrown and the outdoor furniture was disgusting. Inside was full of sand, I also found hairs that were clearly not mine or my spouse’s. I understand we were right by the beach but, there were tons of bugs, ants, and even roaches. Property owner was impossible to get ahold of via the app. He would respond and then we wouldn’t hear from him for days at a time. Garbage was not taken out before we got there, in fact, it was overflowing so much we couldn’t put our own garbage in there. We had to take the garbage out ourselves, nobody ever came to do so. We were there for close to two weeks, and it took until three days before we left for them to even cut the grass. The inside was not kept up, there were openings/holes next to the ACs for all types of bugs to get in, there were no proper blockages. The weather stripping around the doors was also missing or coming off. All sorts of bugs could get in that way as well. The work/repairs that you could tell were done previously, were done haphazardly. Overall this was NOT WORTH the money we spent. Other than the location, all was well below our expectations. We have stayed in the area many times, and never stayed in a place like this. Additionally, this was not the only house on the property, we spoke with our neighbors and they had many of the same complaints we did. Really disappointed!

Fun little place right on the beach

I enjoyed staying here. The beach was only 100 ft away from the back patio in a grill was provided with a fire pit. The owner was super friendly understanding and extended without question when asked. The property was clean when we got there and there were plenty of dishes pots pans towels etc. Check in with simple the code worked right away and they were no issues with any of that. There's a fishing pier with a bar and grill that's seasonal and unfortunately wasn't open when we were there but looks like it would be ideal. This is off the main Virginia Beach kicking path which we liked because it was a little quieter. The kitchen is large clean and up to date. There was an ice maker which was super cool and helpful as well as a coffee pot and new appliances stove etc. Obviously being a beach house it's probably a little older but it's the best bang for the buck you're going to find out in this area!

Add was misleading, place not on beach

The units are close together with no privacy. None of the windows have curtains. Neighboors dog constantly barked 8 plus hrs day as it was tied outside. Kitchen lacked bare essentials. The rancid smell of dog permianted the air. Even after multiple attempts to shampoo rugs. Paint peeling, roof leaked. Located in a sketchy area. No clothes dryer. I attempted to hang my clothes outside, they were stolen within 2 hrs.....

Great getaway!

Just in town for the night to visit WinterFest. Perfect place to stay. We only stayed one night, but definitely will be back. Will recommend this house to friends.

Up on arrival you will have to fight for parking spots. You have to park in the pier parking lot. There are spots designated for the houses but the house in front of us took all of them. When we first walked in there was a slight smell you can definitely tell it’s an older house! Floors are very in level. We understand (beach bugs) but we did have to kill several pincher bugs. I even had one in my bed. The area is a little rough especially for a bunch of women! Very close to the water but lots of trashed furniture outside. Grass to get to the ocean was very tall. All around we made it but probably wouldn’t stay again, mainly for safety concerns! We asked a grocery store worker how safe it was and he said look around your in ocean view there are security guards in grocery stores. So that didn’t help! The host responded quickly and we had a seem less check in!

Perfect stay

The house was very cute, I loved the extra touches such as the sample toiletries and Pac Man machine. The beach was steps away and the fishing pier was a huge hit with my husband and daughter. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your property, we hope to come back one day.

Very pleased with our stay. We were just a few steps from the beach. Loved that. The place was clean. Quiet. We just wanted the beach and rest and we were able to do both. George was easy to work with. We definitely plan to return to this hidden place. Just hated to leave.

Bungalow on the bay

Older cabin was clean. Had everything we needed. Outside area needed alot of attention. Grass needed mowed and had some junk furniture sitting around that did not have to be there. Location to the beach and pier was awesome.

Family weekend to visit Navy buddies

Contact the manager directly to confirm your rental is only booked on the calendar for this house. Apparently this house is listed on multiple rental sites and they aren't diligent enough to keep the calendars updated on each site. So at 9:30 pm on our first night, my 13 yr old son had to stop a strange man who entered our rental home. George wasn't empathetic to my concern for our safety and refused to come change the door code after the other renters left. He even told me this thing happens all the time when you rent homes (guess we've just been lucky as this was our first issue ever with a rental). Based on how he responds to renters who post negative reviews, I'm sure he will rebut this review and attempt to twist it into somehow being our fault. The house itself was nice considering it's age and the amount of work they've done to it thus far, location is great.

Rainy but relaxing

Rained 4 outta 5 days but we made the best of it..lil noisy at night with the pier right there.n parking for the pier is 20ft away soo constant car noise n ppl.. n dont try to star gaze cuz the lights stay on all night..house was clean n cozy but outdated as stated in description.neighbor who lives nextstore is nice..lotsa good restraunts in area with in a 20min drive..overall it was an ok stay but wont b returning due to noise

I began refurbishing the historic homes of Ocean View into nightly rentals in 2017 while studying mechanical engineering at ODU. I was at first unenthused with the vacation rental prospect, until I received my first thank you note and glowing review. The sense of reward in knowing that Louis and his family from Germany had the vacation of a lifetime in the apartment I provided was overwhelming. It quickly became a full-time enterprise, and I now take pride in bringing this historic beach community back to life with updated vacation rentals. My other business pursuits include automotive restoration, luxury car rentals, and tactical sporting goods supply. When I'm not working, I enjoy fishing and exploring with my 6 year old daughter.
