House was perfect for what we needed(ski trip). However it felt like it was halfway done renovations and the basement and game room smelled like sceptic.

Nice house with a Sauna

Clean and well-stocked with a sauna (it took us a long time to get the fire going as it had been raining and the wood was wet but it was a fun experience).

Mislead in the mountains

The location was in the woods, which we wanted, and the host was responsive to our inquiry. Unfortunately, beyond that, we were not impressed. There was a strong musty smell on the bottom floor, there was dog hair everywhere, and the floor felt like it hadn't been swept. The yard is neglected with the walls of an old swimming pool standing but empty. The sauna was there but not easily usable, and there were nails sticking up through the deck that you walked on to get there. There was a wasp/hornest nest on the wall behind the hammock. By far, the most frustrating part of the trip was being charged an extra fee for a dog urine smell on a blanket that their cleaners couldn't get out. We were charged about 2 hours after we left, which is hardly enough time to run a load through a washer and dryer, and more importantly, we don't have any pets. When we challenged the fee VRBO, they went back to the host, who said that it must have been from one of our children. Our youngest is 12. The house is up for sale, and ultimately, we got the impression that the host has given up doing more than the minimum while they wait to sell it.

Best Night Sleep

My husband does not sleep well when we are away from home, but the king bed in the lofted master bedroom changed that! We both slept incredibly well. The bed is amazingly comfortable. The lofted room is completely private, with a unique stairwell leading up to it. The bed area is entirely secluded; looking up the stairs only reveals a small part of the room. Our friends in the other bedroom on the main floor also slept very well. I absolutely love the kitchen; it has ample space with its island and nearly all the utilities one could imagine. Want coffee? It has a coffee pot! Just want tea? It has a hot water kettle! The living area is clean, cozy, and a nice mix of modern and ADK styles. The entire property is very interesting, and I loved imagining how it was when it was initially built. The sauna was beautiful, but since it was summer, we did not utilize it. The deck area is also wonderful; we had a few squirrel visitors and enjoyed being up in the trees. Very magical. They also have a hammock, lounge chairs, and other seating, which was very nice.

Summer ADK Getaway - Great Location

Family of 6 with dog, we stayed at the property for a week in August. Great location and host responded quickly to a minor concern. We had no problem sleeping 6, just plan ahead as the listing clearly shows there are only 2 beds. This house has a great location for hiking, sightseeing in towns, has a Tops located 10-15 minutes away. As another reviewer noted bring your own mini grill as the property doesn't have one on-site. There were no water leaks in the main bedroom as that issue was previously addressed (the property handyman gave us the rundown while addressing a minor issue during our stay). Sauna also worked great once we got the hang of it (we used a spray bottle for the water instead of the provided bucket). We had to do some minor cleaning when we arrived (sweeping and some dishes) but nothing crazy. We would stay again if coming to the same area.

False Advertisement

You rent so you can have the amenities of home. A BBQ grill was listed as a popular amenity, with no caveats.We arrived to find no grill. There was a small fire pot that was filled with wet ash. We called the owner who told us, that in the description it says the grill is down by the comminity lake, and that it was clearly described in the posting. We never found the posting she identified. Our vacation was planned with lots of grilling, since it was summer and we were in ADK. Who would expect to grill somewhere and bring the food back every night? We ended up buying a grate so we could grill, it took us 2-3 hours and $45 to find something thst we could cook our meals on. Additionally, the house was incredibly damp, with a dehumidifier running the entire time we were there. The roof leaks into the main bedroom. And it is advertised to sleep 8. Not that we needed that but that was what was advertised. There is a king size bed and small futon in one room. A full size bed in the 2nd room. And a dirty, stained couch, which when you remove the cushions is dirty underneath. I don't see how there was beds for 8. The house has a worn down. The deck faced the road. Behind the house was an empty above the ground pool, which they stated in the house manual was for dogs to play. In the back there was also an empty whirlpool, and a sauna. It was so overgrown and unkept we did not go behind the house at all, so we dont know if the sauna worked. Unfortunately I could go on and on.

The place is well located in Adirondak but we have rented for 8 persons and we had not enough place to sleep, no extra matress. The sofa bed was horrible (juste for one personne) So three persons had no place to sleep and the host didnt care and told us that we should bring our own matress. Kind of thing that you should inform your guess… Also good to know that the place had water infiltration on the second floor and a lot of moisture in the basement so we had allergy, the air quality in the cottage wasnt good. I dont recommand this place.

Great location, So peaceful!

Stayed here for 10 days with my family of four and two dogs over the Holidays. We arrived just in time for a white Christmas! Great location, not too far from Lake Placid, but far enough to be secluded. The accommodations were just perfect and the chalet was well stocked with anything we needed. We were very impressed with the professional management! Highly recommend!
