Completely remodeled for comfort and convenience, this pet-friendly and family-friendly home is situated in the heart of Abraham Lincoln country, only 10 minutes from Springfield, IL.

Nearby are wineries, historical sites and antiques waiting to be discovered. The nationally acclaimed Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum are located in Springfield, an easy ten-minute drive through rural vistas. While here, visit Lincoln's Home National Historic Site, Lincoln's Tomb, the Lincoln Depot, Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana Thomas House, and more! Pick up lunch at the historic Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop - the first drive-thru in the nation. In the summer season, you'll find an abundance of roadside stands selling fresh produce and melons. Bike along the country roads, with bicycles provided (seasonally) for your enjoyment. This home is a short, fifteen-minute drive from New Salem State Historical Site where Lincoln tended store and surveyed the surrounding area.

Home Amenities: This single story home with a basement, has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, wall-mount smart TV with live streaming, and USB charging stations on each nightstand. You'll also find 'Smart' outlets in the kitchen for device charging, Google Home technology throughout the home, and a completely renovated bathroom, with an LED shower tower boasting five, multi-function body jets, a handheld showerhead and rain head for the ultimate shower experience. The living room hosts a sleeper sofa, recliner and chaise lounge, fireplace, and a 52" smart TV with live streaming. In the summer, a large yard, nightly viewings of deer in the back pasture, along with the coyotes and owls serenading and fire-pit access makes for the perfect country experience!

Excellent stay!

Adorable, nicely decorated and had everything we needed. We were very comfortable staying in this little country house. Location was perfect. Owner was friendly & responsive. Honestly, the cleanest VRBO we have ever been in.

Great place for a getaway

Enjoyed my (solo) stay here while taking a 4-day leave. I wanted a quiet place to read and relax, while also being close enough to the city to do a few things here and there. Comfortable, clean, and convenient. Would without hesitation stay here again should the occasion arise.

Peaceful and comfortable

We thought this place was renovated beautifully with a cozy home feel. It was very clean and had everything we needed and more. The luxury shower was amazing! We have zero complaints and look forward to staying again. Kirsten responds almost immediately to messages.

The Perfect Place to Stay!

This is my 2nd stay with Kirsten and it was 100% perfect! Easy check-in, and Kirsten is always very responsive with any information.The home is the perfect size for me and a guest, and the best dog-friendly place to stay! It had everything we needed for a long weekend and was super clean. The dryer was an added bonus to toss in wet crate mats. Favorite amenity? The shower! This is by far one of my favorite places to stay when in Pleasant Plains. Quiet, country setting yet 10 min from anything you need.

The home is located in a quiet country setting. Very clean, very pleasant. We witnessed some beautiful sunsets as we were fixing our suppers.The home is close to Springfield with the Lincoln museum and library and the National Lincoln Home.Both were very much enjoyed by us, and highly recommended.

Away from town

This place was out in the country, we saw and heard the wildlife. Very cute place, just like the pictures. The only downfall were the beds, very hard mattresses. Host gave us all the information we needed in a timely matter.

Coming for Dog trials

This was a perfect location, out in the country but still 15-20min from everything we needed. The house was very clean, beautifully done and dog friendly (but you couldn’t tell by walking in). The host got back to us right away when we asked questions. 100% will stay here again

Country House

The house was great and as described. After spending long days at the draft horse show it was great to be able to relax there in the mornings before we went back to the hustle at the fairgrounds. Such a peaceful setting! Enjoyed it.

Country stay

This was a great place to stay for a wedding in Springfield Il with a reception in pleasant plains. It was everything that was advertised. It was quiet, an easy commute, and very dog friendly. Very clean. Would stay here again! The host is very friendly and quite willing to work with you- she was willing to let us check in early to get an extra visit with family for the weekend.

Not Good

Too many bad things to highlight here but the top 4 were: (1) The bed was as hard as the floor. (2) The bathroom was so tiny that one person barely fit. (3) The steps up to the door (porch was 4 feet above ground) had no hand rail, especially dangerous for senior citizens and/or small children. (4) Windows and outside appearance had not been cleaned in years (cobwebs, bugs, debris).

My daughter and I had a lovely stay at this cozy property to see Miranda Lambert and the State Fair. It was very peaceful in this beautiful wooded area not far from the fair. Wonderful experience.

SO PEACEFUL

What an amazing stay to simply get away for a few days. Kirsten went above and beyond and answered all the questions I had prior and during the visit. She is amazing! The house is absolutely adorable. Sitting outside in the mornings on the porch drinking coffee listening to the birds chirping gave me a sense of zen I don't get living in the city. The house was spotless and has such a warm cozy feeling. I highly recommend and give it 11/10. Thank you Kirsten for making the stay so enjoyable!

Delightful Country Setting

We loved our stay in this delightful home. It is situated on a very rural road and the property is well-kept. We even saw a doe and her twin fawns when pulling in one day. The house itself is clean and well set-up with plenty of linens and towels available. The kitchen appliances all work well. Beds are very comfortable. You're 15 minutes from the western edge of Springfield. The only drawback is the lack of railings on the porches. I hope to be able to spend more time there. I didn't want to leave.

I left feeling disappointed.

First, I messaged with the owner at the end of 2023 to ask about whether fireworks could be heard at their property. It looked and was described as secluded, and they assured me that they wouldn't be heard, only seen. Unfortunately, they neglected to mention that the neighbors directly in front and behind set off their own fireworks for several hours, which defeated the entire purpose of my stay. I didn't message the owner, because what could they have done? I was stuck there, and had to deal with it. I was super disappointed, to say the least. Second, they have a real gnat problem. They come out of the shower drain, and whatever bugs are in the window sills were all over me as I sat at the kitchen table. Again, I didn't reach out because what would they have done? Sprayed some chemicals that probably would've required me to leave? Again, I just dealt with it because I felt stuck. Third, the bed was super uncomfortable. I've certainly slept on worse, but it was more springy than firm, and it just solidified the disappointment. Fourth, for the 2nd half of my stay, my assumption is it was the owners on the property for much of the day and night working on some sort of trailer, I don't really know. They didn't come to the house or anything, but my social anxiety was at a high the entire time. Some pros: -When fireworks weren't going off, it was quiet. -It's just a 10 minute drive to Centennial Park, which has a great walking trail. -They allowed me to bring my two cats.

Great Kitchen

Great kitchen. Nice house. However, beds were too hard and uncomfortable. Also, need a railing on the steps outside. I could not get up on down them on my own, I had to wait for my husband. Not everyone is a spring chicken.
