Location
Situated along the Tiber river in the Spanish Steps area, it is a 5-minute walk to Piazza del Popolo and Via del Corso. Piazza del Popolo is the grand entrance to the neighborhood where you can linger to enjoy street life and open space that leads uphill through the Pincian gardens to the expansive Borghese Gardens. Walk along Via di Ripetta/Via della Scrofa, window shopping at antique stores, enjoy a casual dinner at PizzaRé for authentic Neapolitan pizza, spend an hour at the Ara Pacis museum. Stroll through the Mussolini-era arcade nearby with its imposing Fascist architecture, best known for Alfredo’s, where Fettucine Alfredo was invented, now revitalized to include many interesting and hip restaurants.
Exterior
Inspired by the beautiful art in the apartment, Minerva's Treasure is named after the Roman/Etruscan goddess of wisdom and sponsor of arts.
Interior
From a large entry, enter a bright living room that has seating for all with a sofa bed and two arm chairs. A crystal chandelier enhances the tasteful decor. A large window overlooks the tree-lined street that faces the Tiber river; there are no facing buildings so there is a lot of natural light. A narrow park dense with mulberry trees separates the street below from the river and the river road. Most of the year, the view is predominately the green of the trees.
The spacious entry in the center of the apartment serves double duty as a dining area with a drop-leaf table that opens up to seat four.
Very fine paintings and lovely decorative elements throughout.
The kitchen is small but efficient, everything is within arm's reach. A large window faces the back, overlooking the inner courtyard and buildings across the way. There is a full size refrigerator with separate freezer compartment, 4-burner gas stove, oven, dishwasher, double sink, drip coffee maker, microwave, pots, pans, dishes.
Bedrooms
The master bedroom is compact with good closet space. The bed is double sized. The room is painted a rich warm red and has two sets of windows that face the center of the block, looking towards other buildings across the way. The bathroom, done in dramatic black, is en suite.
The second bedroom also has a double bed and a built-in closet. The window overlooks the street and Tiber river.
The double beds are 55" wide x 79" long. This is 1" wider than a North American double and 5" less than a queen. They are 4" longer than North American double bed.
Bathrooms
The master bathroom is en suite with large enclosed shower, sink, toilet and bidet.
The second bathroom is accessed off the center foyer and has a shower, sink, toilet.
Both bathrooms are marble-tiled and are compact, cleverly designed to fit within the limited space.
