Cute little cottage!

The cottage is nicely decorated and meets all your basic needs. The vibe is beachy and eclectic and feels warm and welcoming. They provided little essentials that are super convenient. Privacy can be a bit tricky bc of the set up, but we were able to make it work. Overall, we had a great weekend and That Place accommodated all of our basic needs to be comfy and feel at home at the beach! :)

Cottage close to the beach

Unique cottage provides all the necessities for a beach getaway on a budget. Bathroom layout and cleanliness may not be suitable for everyone.

Cute and quiet near the beach

The property makes the most out of every square inch (an extra child will enjoy the on-top bed. It's quiet, away from the main drag but just a short walk to the beach. And a little city area with a small kids park and dog park is just a block away.

Great stay

5 minute walk to the beach. Beautiful tree lined street. Loved having the gas stove. Clean. Comfortable beds. The bed in the loft is really not usable in the summer - just doesn’t get cool up there. Cute shared area including shared laundry.

Clean, cozy, and great price. We had trouble getting the key, as no code was provided. Had to call the 800#, but owner came over (saw us on his outdoor camera) and resolved problem quickly. Would definitely stay here again!

Cute but weird

Cute little house, great location! Had everything we needed. The layout is a bit quirky though. Very little privacy with the bathroom and the set up is odd. Since the shower isn’t separate water goes everywhere. The drainage isn’t great either. The floor slopes more towards the toilet so the water pooled back there instead of the drain. We bought cheap bath towels to keep at the doorways too but they were soaked quickly. I wanted to love it but kind of annoying. Other than the bathroom, it really was perfect for our needs.

Cottage Fun

House is cute, but there are 2 other cottages in close proximity. The shower is a room, with not a lot of privacy. Be sure you are comfortable with the person you are with, there is no opportunity to be alone!

Great looking but not so practical

It’s a clean and great looking place in a great location. However it’s not very practical. There’s not much space to put things, no bedside tables, the two chairs in the living room are not comfortable so that leaves the couch, which was comfortable. Many bulbs were not working. The shower is definitely loft style and there’s a broken floor wood part where a nail sticks out. The porch is right behind tge neighbors cottage and the playground is common space.

Place was dirty- floors dirty. AC didn’t work upon arrival; Wi-Fi didn’t work. Spent 3 days meeting with maintenance to resolve issues. Also had an extremely large cockroach show up next to the bed. Fridge was crystallized and froze everything and mad soda explode. Overall bad experience. Spent time meeting with maintenance and pest control and never had time to relax.

Nice, but could use some tweaks

The house is very cute and eclectic. However, it is due for a few days of some updating/fixing up. The refrigerator/freezer was completely frozen over when we arrived. I contacted the property management via text that said maintenance had been scheduled, but no one ever came. Luckily they had a wine cooler that we were able to keep some things cold in. The wi-fi never worked and I couldn't find a router to try to reset it myself. The bathroom is a different open concept, but it's pictured so we didn't think much of it. However, only 1 of the shower heads had hot water, the drain didn't work well and the floor is not sloped properly for drainage so the entire floor would be flooded after a shower. Water pooled badly behind the toilet so it was uncomfortable to have your feet splashing while sitting on the toilet. There is also no privacy at all in the bathroom as the master bedroom only has shoddy saloon type doors separating it from the bathroom, and the walls do not go all the way up, so any bathroom sounds you want to keep at bay aren't possible. I would also suggest a slightly bigger TV for being pretty far from the couch/sitting area. It's a cute quiet place, but average at best. I would suggest the owner find new property management since they couldn't even seem to have the refrigerator addressed.

Stay here if you want roaches and terrible customer service

Upon arrival to this rental, we were mildly disappointed with the cleanliness of the floors and function of the sliding bathroom door. Sand was on the floor and in the bed, but we let this go due to the nature of this location being a beach rental. On our second morning, we noticed a living cockroach on the floor next to the master bed. We were obviously disgusted and were concerned about insects in our clothes, food, and dog’s belly. We then discovered a dead cockroach under the bed and several in traps under the fridge and around the perimeter of the home. This was not indicated in the listing at the time of reservation. We contacted Vacasa in hopes of a relocation for the remainder of our trip and/or a total refund. We did not receive a return call for 3 hours. Once the SC property manager, Carl, finally contacted us, he gave us a lecture on the nature of “palmetto bugs” and how they are harmless (a quick google search would indicate otherwise) and indigenous to the area. We were told that having cockroaches in our rental and bedroom was normal and we would only be refunded for unstayed nights and not relocated as there was “nowhere to put us”. We explained that we would like a refund for the nights we spent sleeping with roaches potentially in our bed and on our floor, which he did not grant. He was exceptionally rude and rebutted with “they weren’t in your bed” as if he would know. Horrible experience - DO NOT BOOK WITH VACASA- stay at Tides on the beach!

Very nice home--stay somewhere else if you need reliable internet

The cottage was adorable and clean, walking distance to everything in Folly Beach. Loved that it was pet friendly so we could travel with our pup. One issue: The internet was abysmal, for the rental cost (we paid approx. $300/night in the off-season), this really needs to be upgraded. Barely worked and when it did it was spotty at best.

Cottage with Quirks

Good location. Comfortable bedding. Locker room style bathroom without much privacy. Comfortable couch in living area but the two chairs were too uncomfortable to sit in. Tiny TV mounted on a huge wall. We would consider a return visit mainly because of being pet friendly and location.
