Lubbers Leap! We invite you to take the leap at Lubbers Quarters Cay in Abaco, Bahamas. Lubbers Leap is nestled in palm trees on the east side of the island with a wonderful white sandy swimming beach just outside your doorstep. It is situated perfectly on the water’s edge to take full advantage of the trade winds of the islands. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Sea of Abaco from the open living space and semi-private dock (shared by only 2 other houses on the island). All conveniently located just minutes from shopping, restaurants, and world-class deep-sea fishing.
Renovated post-Dorian Lubbers Leap is a traditional Bahamian style cottage with 2 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and a bonus bunk room for the kids. The upstairs open living space connects you with the outdoors for true island living and provides for great entertaining or peaceful solitude. The bedrooms are both private and equipped with air conditioning for those warm nights on the island. It features a fully equipped kitchen, a large outdoor sun deck, and a protected beach for relaxing or letting the little ones swim. It also has a large dock where you can fish, swim, snorkel and most importantly, park your boat right outside your door.
Lubbers Quarters Cay is a gorgeous out-island located between Great Abaco and Elbow Cay in the Sea of Abaco on the Abaco Sound. Approximately 3 miles south of Hope Town, it is 1 mile long and 1/2 mile wide. Its protected shores and close proximity to deep water make it a boating and fishing paradise. It is centrally located and easily accessible for island hopping anywhere in the Abaco area. The island offers secluded beaches, fly fishing flats, roads for walking or jogging, and lots of solitude. It is just minutes to dining and shopping, the best of everything……seclusion and convenience.
Lubbers Leap was also updated post-Dorian with a whole house solar system to ensure you have reliable power for your stay.

Beautiful and well stocked house

The house was perfect for our family of 5. Well stocked with all the supplies we could need. A/C and water heater worked great. Beds were super comfortable. Michael, the house caretaker, was awesome with helping us get to the house from Marsh Harbor. He was also available for any questions we had about things to do around the islands. If you like to get away from the hustle and crowds to enjoy quiet privacy, this place is for you.

Lubbers is for Lovers

Ha ha. Couldn't resist. This was actually a family vacation. The property was everything it was said to be. Abaco is beautiful. Go. Only thing I would add to the house would be some board games, cards, and paperbacks. Definitely call the Lubbers Bakery and enjoy Nancy's cooking. Also, it should be repeated: The upstairs of the house is accessed by an open stairway. Do not plan on bringing a toddler or preschooler here. You'd be paranoid the entire time.

Relaxing get away

We had a wonderful stay at Lubbers Leap. The house is beautiful and fully equipped for all vacation needs. The boys had a great time swimming, boating, and fishing! We hope to return again to make many more wonderful memories!

It was amazing to leap into Lubbers Leap!

Lubbers Leap is an amazing house from the location to the layout of the house to the decor and the view... OH. That. View! Easy access to/from the Sea of Abaco with a very nice dock and dolphin line. The a/c in the bedrooms works wonderfully and the beds were super comfy (I haven't slept that well in ages!). Upstairs you do not miss a/c as the trade winds keep it cool and there are plenty of fans if you need an additional breeze. The owner Cassandra was always quick to respond to any inquiries we had and the on site property manager, Laurie, was very helpful upon our arrival. We checked out Cracker P's the first night there and Riggi, the island dog, led us right there (it's about a mile hike but we enjoyed the walk). Beautiful landscaping around the house and we enjoyed watching the crabs and hummingbirds in the front of the house. Take time to stroll to the community dock on the opposite side of the island to enjoy a quiet sunset or snorkel - on the way there is a small community take one/leave one library if you are in need of some reading material. If you are considering this house, go ahead and take the leap - you won't regret it!

Paradise

Our family trip to the Abacos was a dream. It was our first time and we'll definitely be back. Lubbers Leap is fantastic rental property and worked well for 2 adults and 2 kids (6 and 8 yrs old). It could even accommodate more people if needed. The property has the best of both worlds with a sandy beach and dock at your front door. We spent some days hanging around the house and other days exploring the other islands by boat. Overall, this is a great property. Well maintained, appointed and ready for your trip the Abacos.

Paradise Found

Lubber's Leap - I can't begin to describe what a wonderful stay we had here! This house is a perfect set up for a family. Three bedrooms and the beds are so comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could need. The view is incredible - we stayed on the screened in porch upstairs every morning having coffee and just breathing in the relaxation. Then we'd go downstairs and get in the swing and play with Lulu the neighborhood cat! The beach and the dock just add to the family enjoyment. Laurie met us very late on Friday when we FINALLY got there to show us around - very considerate. Thanks Cass for sharing this wonderful space with our family. Carol

Fantastic stay at Lubbers Leap

What a beautiful location and home! This is obviously a very well maintained home with thought and effort put into all the small details. From the wonderful luxurious bedding to the beach chairs to the fully stocked kitchen and the comfortable furniture....everything was there to enjoy. The location is remote ...but that is the beauty. Turtles, stingrays and fish underneath the dock and a beautiful view to look at each day. Heaven...we’ll be back!!

Lubbers Quarters Cay was a beautiful Island with very nice residents.

Our family of 5 stayed at Lubbers Leap and enjoyed every minute. The island is centrally locates to all other islands and beaches. The house was perfect as was the owner and the caretaker in helping with questions.

Perfect!

We love Lubbers Leap so much that we've been there twice in the past 8 months! The home is well located, clean, and stocked with plenty of dishes, linens, beach towels, etc. This home is especially perfect for families as your kids will love fishing from the dock and swimming at the beach.

Awesome property with white sandy beach!

This property provided everything we could have asked for on our trip to the Abaco Islands this spring(10 nights). With it's own private white sandy beach and dock you can walk out your door and be toes in the sand. The house is set up perfectly with a huge screen porch on the water side and open floor plan in the living space. The property was clean and well appointed. We would highly recommend this property and a stay on Lubbers Quarters. It's a quick boat ride to Marsh Harbour and Hope Town. The owners were fabulous to deal with and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. An Abaco Island vacation is like no other.

We never wanted to leave

We love Lubbers because you feel like you are really leaving our busy work worlds behind. Lubbers Leap allowed us to have a great vacation but also have as much comfort and beauty as possible. Yes, there was a wifi and AC but with the perfect layout of this rental, you could enjoy the open air breeze from the hammock upstairs and only check in once you relax. The amenities were great- beach towels, coffee maker and a corkscrew were on top of my list and all available. On other vacations, you could tell the owner picked up the bargain sheets and towels, but not here. Not only will you find plenty of linens but they are the brands you would select for your house. Same goes for the furniture! We know how hard it must have been to get the plush cushions to Lubbers but we noticed and loved it. During prior visits we had stayed with friends so we knew the drill of renting a boat and getting groceries/beer in Marsh Harbour, its a must do! This way we could relax once we got to Lubbers Leap Laurie, the property manager, is the best there is and we were excited to see her and Mike at Cracker P's for dinner later that week. During our 9 days, would spend each morning having breakfast and drinking coffee at Lubbers Leap and then set out on an adventure via boat. The solar dock lights were a great help and the dolphin rig worked great. One night we cooked our fresh catch with the neighbors and realized how well stocked the kitchen was to make a big meal! We will really miss Riggy and Black Bart (the local K9 and feline greeting committee) who spent a lot of time on the deck with us and seem to never age! Maybe its the salt air! Can't say enough good things about the owner and the property. Cas Bradley has this figured out and is very responsive. You won't be sorry if rent Lubbers Leap!

Lubber's Leap provides a cute and comfortable base for exploring the Abacos.

This was our third time staying at Lubber's Leap, but this time was really special, as my daughter got married here! The cottage provided a lovely backdrop for the wedding complete with conch shell lined aisle and a light onshore breeze. Cracker Pea's, the one restaurant on the island, did a great job of catering for 15. We love the location of the cottage and enjoy its proximity to Hope Town and great fishing and snorkeling spots, and we appreciate the solitude of the island as well as regular check-ins and support provided by the caretaker and maintenance guy. We love sipping coffee and reading on the porch in the morning, cleaning fish on the dock and seeing all the marine life coming up for scraps, and the ease of docking and exploring the islands by boat. Be prepared for some sticker shock at the grocery stores at Marsh Harbor or Hope Town, although most everything you want or need is available. You can offset grocery expense by catching and cooking your own fish which we found to be plentiful and delicious! In year's past when we stayed, there was a sit on top kayak available, and I did miss having that this time. Some of our guests had paddle boards and/or kayaks available at their rentals, and it would have been nice to have that as an option for when we wanted some exercise "on top" of the water. There were plenty of beach chairs, however, and a few floats which were nice. We love the entire experience of the Abacos enhanced by lovely Lubbers' Leap and will definitely be back (maybe for the anniversary party!).

Wonderful time away and the house instantly set the mood.

My wife and I, along with our 3 grown kids, all needed a break from reality. We found the open air concept of this house to meet our needs. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, bathrooms, and at the beach. The screened porches allowed us to eat all our meals "outside" instead of the dinner table without the worry of the nightly bugs. Also, the outdoor shower allowed us to feel even more "out in nature". The location is perfect for exploring most of the Abaco Out islands and provides protection out on the water but still allows for perfect sunrises. We highly recommend Lubbers Leap.

Beautiful, tranquil, and inviting!

Lubber's Leap is an amazing vacation home! It is beautifully decorated to give you an inviting beachy feel. The house is situated right on a private sandy beach and is just a short boat ride away from Hope Town and other Cays. You get the best of both worlds - visit the more populated Cay's during the day and come back to privacy on Lubber's Quarters. We got to explore this small Cay on a run and encountered many beautiful views of blue water. While there, don't forget to check out Cracker P's. You might even win a bingo game or two. The owners have thought of all the details to make you feel comfortable including soft sheets and towels. You won't go wrong with booking this house. We can't wait to visit again!

Great house on the beach, perfect for famlies.

Two families each with young boys fit perfctly at Lubbers Leap. The house was well appointed and the upside down floor plan allows for great views. Cas was extremely helpful before and during the rental providing tips and what to bring and where to go during our stay. Lubbers Quaters provides an excellent central location to explore the Abacos by boat. Easy acess to Hopetown and Marsh Harbor for basic supplies. We visited during December so it was not an issue, but note that the upstairs bunk bed room does not have AC. We will defintely take the leap again.

Great Location and Well Equipped

This was our second trip to Lubbers, but our first time to this property. Cas (owner) was super easy to work with pre-trip, and was even more helpful when there was a minor issue with the rental. She went above and beyond to make sure she worked through the issue as quickly as possible and that we were kept in the loop. Issues happen, it's all about how you respond to them. We've been to a number of VRBO properties, and the things that set this one apart from some of the others: - Quality of the linens. This may seem like a small issue, but there is nothing worse than staying in a rental, and getting cheap rental sheets and towels, like the owner is keeping the good stuff to themselves, and putting in the throwaway ones out for the guests - Rental was well equipped from a kitchen standpoint. We didn't cook a lot but anything we needed was there - The on island rep lives just on the south end of the island, so was there when we needed her, but was not on top of us when we didn't - This one has that look that the owners left it just as they use it for you Can't really think of any negatives. Thanks Cas for a great week!

Awesome island adventure!

There are so many things to love about this house, but my favorite were: the open-air/open floor plan of the kitchen floor, the beach front that feels like it's your very own, the seclusion and quiet of Lubbers. With a little pre-planning, this is a PERFECT beach getaway. Rent a boat, hit a store for drinks and grub, then set yourself up in the sun and the sand! Great space to cook your own meals OR boat to a nearby island for lunch, dinner or drinks (Firefly Sunset Resort is probably closest). I loved reading in the hammock on the porch, practicing yoga on the dock and exploring the island on foot. I hope to visit again soon!

Island comfort & wonderfully one of a kind

The home had incredibly comfortable bedrooms and open air living spaces that really let you settle into the island life. There are several porches, a nice dining area and kitchen that have perfect views of the water and beach, including the island and inlet across the harbor. There's a nice road behind the house that is perfect for a lap around Lubbers. The house is very clean and well maintained. We've stayed at most of the resorts in the area but we'll hope to be back here on our next trip. Absolutely loved it!!!
