Warm and Inviting
I stayed at the Mas Augusta with my family for one week in April 2017. What can I say? The house is so beautifully appointed, lovely and inviting , you wouldn't want to leave it for one minute if not for the beautiful surrounding Luberon countryside, the perched villages, vineyards and and and…. The immediate surroundings of the house are equally beautiful!! You get the feeling you landed in times long gone, when land was plenty and the next neighbor far away and out of sight. The huge property is nothing less than breathtaking!! 150 acre (60 ha) only to share with the lovely Roussel family and the guests of 2 more houses. Hours of walking with breathtaking views directly from your front door… but the location is also ideal for day trips to each and every point you want to visit in beautiful Provence. Mas Augusta is in a very (!) secluded position but because of its location right in the middle of the Luberon mountains you easily reach the northern and the southern part, villages like Gordes Roussillion, Lourmarin, Menerbes, Lacoste ….. all a stonethrow away. I could go on and on in my praise of beautiful Augusta but still the best thing about our stay I didn't mention yet. The proprietors Mathilde and Bernard. You’ll hardly ever meet people more inviting, warm and lovely than these two! My father got ill while we were staying at the Augusta and we had to even take him to the hospital for a short period of time. Mathilde went to visit him there and Bernard went out of his way to provide things we needed from the pharmacy. They made endless phone calls to various doctors, too. The warmth and friendliness of Mathilde and Bernard helped us so much when we were worried about my father’s health. We hope to back soon!!
