You'll love both the open and covered decks for sitting and enjoying the sunshine and surrounding nature as you sip your morning coffee or evening cocktail. The well-equipped, full kitchen, with an array of stainless steel appliances, is a dream for the chef of your group. Gather at the dining table for meals or family game nights or enjoy eating al fresco on the deck. The living area provides ample space for your group to come together for games, conversation, or to stream your favorite channels.

This home includes central air-conditioning, ceiling fans, a private washer/dryer, and a convenient outdoor shower. You'll also be close to shopping, entertainment, and restaurants, while the ocean and sound are equally nearby for spending endless hours in the sun and surf.

Xmas trip

Overall everything was fine. No major issues with anything. We were there for a short family visit and this place allows dogs so we could bring our pup. Wi-Fi would periodically go out. So trying to watch anything online or the tv sometimes was a hassle. Other than that it was fine.

Property is great for dogs, terrible customer service & experience

We didn’t have sheets. We contacted guest services with zero resolution night one. We were left to sleep on plastic & find throw blankets to sleep under. In the morning we contacted them again to get an update on bedding and were told they don’t know when we will get the sheets. I argued with numerous customer service people trying to get feedback on when & if we’d get necessary bedding throughout the day, making our time on the beach much less relaxing than it should have been! The house does not have basic kitchen supplies like a sponge, dish soap, trash bags, paper towels, ect. We’ve stayed in a lot of house rentals that had at least those basics & we bring items like olive oil, but this lack created an additional stop at the store. The neighbor is a full time resident with barking dogs, be aware if your dogs are reactive. The fenced in yard is very convenient but is not cleaned up by dog owners so watch your step. The furniture is in good shape, nice kitchen table for everyone to eat together. The house itself is decent, the lack of basics and the frustration and headache to obtain those basics, like sheets, is absurd and if that falls on the rental co then I feel sorry for the homeowner because they’re doing their home an injustice.

Dog friendly, great kitchen

The good, it was great to be able to bring my pup down to the OBX with us. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals. The large dining room table was great for meals together and the craft projects we had for the rainy days. It’s just a short drive to the beach and food lion. As mentioned in a previous review the neighbor isn’t excited to have people renting next door and doesn’t exactly keep to herself. The interior and exterior of the home could use some maintenance. I highly suggest brining some extra sheets, the plastic covers on the mattress are noisy and you can feel and hear them through the sheets. Dispute our best efforts there was an ant invasion. With the number of traps in the house it was obvious this wasn’t a one off situation. All in all it’s a decent place to stay and for the price we expected a bit more. Also note it’s not listed there is a fire pit in the backyard.

Not great, not terrible. 3.5

Home is great if you have a dog coming with you. Yard is fenced but pretty run down, a lot of potential but not great. Keypad was totally broken when we arrived. Couldn’t get into the home. Second door worked but none of the codes we were given worked to get in. House itself was clean and pleasant—plenty of space, porch is nice, bathrooms were clean. No notes were left about trash—when we arrived the outside can was overflowing with trash with bags stacked on the sides. Animals ended up getting into it. We didn’t know what days were trash pick up so we just had to live with it. Laundry from past guests was also piled up in the driveway and laundry room. Neighborhood was very nice, walk to the sound was great for sunset. Drive to the beach was very quick and convenient. Outdoor shower was a plus. House could be great but needs better management and some work to the outside.

Great home

Great home. Centrally located. Cranky neighbor to the right of the property who wasn't very welcoming in the slightest. Otherwise, we would use this property again for sure. “Karen” as we called her was not around enough to sway us from using the property again. Overall, a great property with clean and nice accommodations!

Nice Place to stay

We had a nice time staying at Salty Tails and the house was clean. The grass wasn't cut and was very tall BUT I called, and they came out the next day to cut the front and back yard. I would stay and use Vacasa again.

Cute and comfortable

We enjoyed our stay at this house. It’s not a perfect house, but somebody did a great job updating and decorating it. It had everything we needed for a few days in OBX. Only complaint would be that the backyard needed to be mowed 😊.

We left our vacation early.

I can't recommend this property. In fact, I can recommend that until Vacasa actually decides to actively manage this property, you stay far, far away. I don't ever write reviews for anything at all and yet I was compelled to write something here, if for no other reason than to spare other families their hard-earned PTO and money. - Access code didn't work upon arrival, and it took nearly an hour and multiple phone calls in the 95+ F heat before the local property manager finally reached out to us. In fact, a kind neighbor was able to get us in with a backup code before that happened. The carport door doesn't even have a Vacasa-installed keypad, something the tech that showed up several hours too late told us. - Black all around the vents in the ceiling. Not sure if it was dust or mold... but I was sneezing, coughing, and had a sore throat the whole time we were there. - Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. - Wood chips from the shoe molding on the floor. Good thing my toddler or dog didn't pick one of those up! - Old food in the freezer, old dog food in the dog bowls. - The yard hasn't been maintained at all and the grass is near waist high, so unless you or your dog wants to pick up some ticks, you'll avoid that. - Had to rinse out the tub before using, as there were hairs in it. - Nails sticking out of the wood stairs and deck, and loose screws in several places. There's plenty more, but Vrbo has a character limit. We left early. Learn from our mistake and look elsewhere.
