Une maison de bord de mer isolée, séparée, située sur la côte nord-ouest de The Current (un petit village tranquille d’une centaine de personnes) au nord d’Eleuthera, aux Bahamas. L'actuel est à proximité de renommée mondiale Harbour Island.

La maison principale est bien entretenu, ouvert, et il est d'une conception architecturale moderne et propre avec une atmosphère confortable. Sur un banques secondaires de portes-fenêtres ouvertes à un dépistage, des vérandas, couvertes de longues face à la mer, et sur le côté d'entrée à un jardin clos.

'Getaway' abrite confortablement 4 personnes avec un salon ouvert, salle à manger et cuisine, une chambre principale et une chambre en mezzanine ouverte. Disponible pour location à la semaine à partir de $ 1,410 par semaine ou à 210 $ par jour pour deux personnes.

Intérieur

La maison contient banques de turquoise peints portes françaises, l'ouverture vers de grandes vérandas pleine longueur face à la mer d'un côté et les jardins intérieurs, et de la route d'entrée, sur le côté opposé. Natural tuile shellstone mexicaine, étirement des surfaces de rez de chaussée intérieures aux vérandas sur les deux côtés de la maison, brouille la ligne entre l'intérieur et l'extérieur. La couleur de la shellstone mexicaine, similaire dans la teinte de la plage signe et la mer des reflets verts de la garniture et des portes en bois peint, est le simple reflet de la plus grande beauté environnante.

Un "A" toit du cadre expansive étend la longueur de la maison et offre une spacieuse ouverte sentir à la salle à manger et cuisine. Dans cet espace de vie, comprenant la moitié du plan de la maison-de-chaussée, la pleine ampleur de l'espace se fait sentir. Il est ici que l'intérieur de la maison atteint son point le plus haut, au sommet des poutres, des 20 pieds du sol.

Une salle de bains moderne sépare le salon / cuisine de la chambre des maîtres et divise le plan d'étage et l'élévation de la maison en deux essentiellement. Au-dessus de la chambre des maîtres, un loft, avec des planchers de pin blanc lavés, fournit un support pour une deuxième grande chambre aérée que les pairs vers le bas sur le salon.

Plafonds intérieurs sont finis avec la langue apparentes et le revêtement de toit rainure. Aussi exposés sont 3 "x 10" chevrons structurelles de la maison, donnant l'impression, quand on est en vous prélassant sur les confortables fauteuils de salon, que la coque d'un bateau en état de navigabilité solide a été soigneusement capoté et placé au-dessus.
Extérieur

Le terrain vallonné en pente douce de la route d'entrée vers la mer. Construit sur un site rocheux avec de grands trous d'évier et une escapade de la grotte a été délicatement placés pour un impact minimal sur cette belle du site.

Pathways, avec des joints d'herbe tendre au plomb à partir du lecteur d'entrée aux vérandas d'entrée de la maison principale. Juste à gauche des allées que vous approchez de la maison est un mur de pierre native bas enfermant une plantation luxuriante de palmiers et de cacher l'ouverture d'une grotte. L'entrée de la grotte tombe à environ 8 'ci-dessous du niveau du sol révélant une longue cavité fermée étirement sur toute la longueur de la maison. La cavité est environ deux fois moins longue que large.

Retour au niveau du sol (plus de la grotte) une passerelle mène à un passage couvert tropicale luxuriante qui ouvre sur le côté de la mer de la maison. En contraste avec le paysage tropical de couleur plus soigné sur le côté d'entrée de la maison, le paysage balnéaire célèbre la beauté de la végétation de l'arbuste indigène, comprenant le sel et le vent des arbres et des arbustes tolérants, communs à cette région. La plupart de la végétation, de ce côté de la maison a été dérangé pendant la construction; avec la fondation de plantation composée de sel natif haies uvifera tolérante. Gumelemi arbres d'âge mûr encadrent vues de la véranda à la mer.

Une allée sinueuse et escarpée mène à la mer où les affleurements rocheux et la belle plage de poche sont doucement caressés par la mer. Ces mêmes affleurements rocheux en sorte que le tronçon de la plage adjacente à la maison est maintenu caché et privé. Au-delà de la plage de la mer étend à l'horizon; la vue à partir d'ici sans interruption et sans limites.

Amazing private beach stay

Hands down the best beach house I’ve ever stayed in! This place is absolutely perfect for 2-4 people, from the well-equipped house to the adorable and convenient pocket beach. All towels and linens are provided in abundance. The kitchen has oils, vinegars, and spices to supplement whatever you bring home from the market. The air conditioning at night was perfect. The road is rough but we had an old jalopy mini van and it was fine as long as you go slow. We were lucky in that we didn’t need to contact the property managers at all but we met Pedro briefly one morning when he came to check the generator, he was very nice. I can’t say enough good things about this place, I hope we’ll be able to return soon!

Beautiful Views

We stayed 6 nights. The view from the back lanai was spectacular. The house is fully stocked with spices, cookware, towels and all you need. Be aware that the best restaurants are in Spanish Wells or Harbour Island, so cooking at home is a good option. There is pizza takeout in Lower Bogue on Thursday-Saturday at Tommy’s but check. The weekend barbeque around the corner from the bakery is very good. It is a great house to relax.

Peaceful Getaway in Beautiful Eleuthera

This is a lovely, comfortable and extremely well-equipped home in a secluded piece of paradise. Whole days went by when we saw barely another soul either by the house or at the nearby beaches. It IS a hike from restaurants and stores, but once you’ve gathered provisions, it’s a terrific place for a quiet vacation in beautiful surroundings.

We had a fantastic stay at Gateway. The place is extraordinarily beautiful and wonderfully secluded. It was a perfect home base to explore the north side of the island, or spend the whole day relaxing, swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding right out front - and then settle in for the postcard sunsets. We really loved Gateway and Eleuthera. I hope to be back!

Secluded paradise

If you want privacy this is the place awesome house views water and Pedro was there every time I called If you plan to stay I suggest you go to the bluff shopping center and get plenty of groceries for your stay eating out is not convenient on the island. The packet Tim will send you is very helpful it’s a little rough road for couple hundred yards to house just drive slow privacy and paradise is the two words that describe this awesome home.

Beautiful house surrounded by nature

Fabulous well-equipped home - everything is there! Bike rides into Current and Current Cut in the mornings then swimming and sunning in the afternoons. Etched rock steps leading into the sea. Fishing boats and sailboats mooring off shore. We enjoyed both the open and screened porches. 10 stars!!!!

A perfect getaway

We had a fantastic secluded stay . The property is beautiful, clean, and looked just like the photos. There was no sand on the beach during our stay, but there was plenty of space on the rocks to enjoy the sun and beautiful sunsets. Tim arranged for our rental car, making our arrival and departure a breeze. This house delivered everything that we hoped that it would and highly recommend it to anyone looking to getaway.

Amazing House

Getaway house exceeded our expectations. The house is very well-built and maintained to a high standard. The location is perfectly away from everything and the “pocket beach” was a dream. While we were not there to watch TV, I will say it was very nice to have actual cable tv with all the networks as opposed to just smart TVs like most rentals do these days (the tv at getaway is also a smart TV with Netflix and a few other streaming apps). Tim is very easy to communicate with and his property manager and cleaning lady do a great job behind the scenes. We can’t wait to come back!

Restful wonderful waterfront retreat.

If you like listening to waves, “Getaway” is perfect and its pocket beach is wonderful, and the sunset view is gorgeous. The kitchen is very well stocked with what’s necessary to cook meals, including condiments, spices, and herbs. Also there are movie DVDs, board games, and books. An SUV with a high ride height is recommended for navigating the dirt road. The settlement of Current is remote, which means this really is a peaceful “Getaway”. Driving a short distance farther along the main road takes you to that end of the island where there used to be activity. Park and take a pleasant isolated hike along the shore on a dirt-and-rock road around to the Cut and beyond the bend. It’s also a quick drive to the ferries to Spanish Wells or Harbour Island, which are pleasant day trips. Other than that, it’s a bit of a trek to Governor’s Harbour. We didn’t go farther south than that.

Amazing Getaway Location

I had an absolutely incredible time at this delightful seaside getaway! Tucked away in secluded surroundings, it truly felt like a private oasis. From the moment I arrived, I felt utterly relaxed and at ease. The location is unbeatable - steps from the beach, with stunning ocean views from every angle. The rental interior was just as impressive, with beautiful furnishings and decor that made it feel like a home away from home. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. One of the things that really stood out to me about this property was how well-equipped it was. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook meals, and plenty of towels and linens were provided. I also appreciated the little touches, like board games and beach gear, that were available for my use. Overall, I can't recommend this rental enough. It's the perfect place to escape from the everyday life's hustle and bustle and unwind. I can't wait to come back and stay again soon!

Paradise

I highly recommend Getaway for anyone looking for a secluded, private Getaway in paradise. The property is exactly as Tim describes in the listing. It was incredibly clean and well kept. We were looking for a peaceful spot on the water to celebrate our 25th anniversary and that's exactly what we got! The pocket beach was perfect when the ride was low and the snorkeling was incredible when the tide was high. We saw stingrays, sea urchins and many tropical fish. We rented a car and we're able to drive to see many attractions and adventure on the island and coming home to Getaway's perfect sunset was the perfect way to end each day. We took a charter boat trip and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking our catch. The electricity on the island was out for a while, but we weren't affected at all. Pedro was great and kept the generator running without a hitch. I can't wait to come back!

Gorgeous Getaway

Our stay at Getaway was fantastic. The photos don't do this beautiful property justice. A classic modern kitchen, open living area, and bedrooms all lead out onto expansive verandas surrounded by beautifully maintained grounds. We were fortunate that we got see blooming orchids, natural landscapes, and local wildlife. The home was fantastically clean and organized. Its come-and-go beach is private and offers sunset views, snorkeling, swimming, and sun bathing. The fully stocked kitchen has everything you needed to cook at home. Soft, comfy towels and sheets are provided. Current is a quiet and peaceful setting. During our stay some of the screens were out for replacement, which made being on the front porch a bit more challenging when there was no breeze and the bugs were out. The downstairs bed is soft, but the upstairs was firm and more to our liking. The road in to the property is a typical road in Eleuthera. Plan for rough surfaces, and going slow at tricky spots. We loved our time at Getaway and thank our host for the use of his beautiful, meticulously constructed home and the local caretakers for their time and care.

So well equipped

This place is such a joy and very peaceful and quiet. As a bonus there is a herd of goats that cruise around the place occasionally. I have so many good things to say about this place, the kitchen is perfectly set up with all that you look for being right where you expect it to be, ditto the bedrooms and the the towels are great. The only thing I have to complain about and it's a real buzz kill was the pillows and cushions in all the chairs and the sofa. They are all packed out and offer little padding or comfort. There is so much seating at this place; rockers, swinging benches, papasan chairs and more but all of them are flat and limp. And while the upstairs mattress was marginally better the master was dreadful unless you like a really soft mattress that you sink into. But this house is so fabulous otherwise you forget about it until you want to sleep or sit and read. Also, and I know it's always changing but the lead photo shows a lovely beach that is not there right now but what was there was paddleboard and kayak with paddles, lawn chairs and a pretty beach a short drive away that was shady right up to the water. Great place and would recommend it to friends :)

Nice Place

We had a blast! This property is perfect for family fun and had everything we needed. The beach was perfect for relaxing and lots of ocean life to see while snorkeling. My son chased lizards around and enjoyed playing with the hermit crabs. We even caught and cooked up a very tasteful crab from the beach. When we arrived we were surprised to see the very tiny airport. Our cell phones did not work there and no one had any island maps. Be prepared to spend some money on groceries as they are VERY expensive and not much selection. Most of the places to eat out at all had the same food items and most do not have any atmosphere much less a place to sit down and eat. The only place we found that was decent was out by the glass window. Be prepared to drop $150 per meal for a family of 4 if you plan on eating out and expect chicken and hamburgers. We were a little disappointed that there wasn’t better island lake restaurants. El Karaka Bar & Grill was fabulous and the view of the glass window and ocean is breathtaking. if you’re looking for more of a tourist area you will need to travel to Spanish Wells or Harbor Island. we also thought the island was pretty rundown and not very clean. Such beautiful beaches and things to see, but when you see trash all over the place you wonder why these people don’t clean up to draw people back.

Don't Doubt It, Just Getaway

Getaway is an incredible property through-and-through. My wife and I visited in early February, and Karen/Pedro/Tim could not have made our visit any more enjoyable or easier. We arrived to ELH, picked up our rental, stopped by Burchies (recommend picking up groceries, Getaway has a great kitchen and grill!), and then headed to Getaway. Karen met us in Current, showed us to the house, gave us a quick tour, and then we quickly settled in and flipped our switches to vacation mode. The property is incredible. You can take your time exploring the jungle, the caves, the beach, the tidepools, and the water. Tons of local flora, creatures, and everything that Eleuthera has to offer. As for the house itself, it is perfect! The massive front and back porches are a dream, and the open common area in the house is great. Tim has taken the time to label (in what had to have been a painstaking process) so, so much in the home. It is incredibly helpful! As for the location, it is easily one of the most secluded places that I have ever visited. With that being said, it is still no more than a 20-30 minute drive to many of the sights of Northern Eleuthera. In 4 full days, we were able to visit Spanish Wells, Ben Bay Beach, Gaulding Cay, Whale Point Beach, Twin Sisters Beach, the Glass Window Bridge, Sapphire Blue Hole, Tay Bay Beach, and the local beaches in Current. Like the title says, just Getaway!

Wonderful, Beautiful, Peaceful Retreat away from the Usual

Getaway is a unique chance to still experience the local hospitality, friendliness, and daily life of North Eleuthera. Along with an additional rent-able cottage, it offers an opportunity for larger groups to stay in this area. Tim, our Host, is a helpful, knowledgeable and great person to assist with planning your time on Eleuthera. He supplies a comprehensive packet of written information and willingly connected us to any other services we wanted. Getaway is well appointed for all basic things needed and on-site assistance from, Pedro or Kathy is possible. We ran into some hiccups with appliances - because maintaining them is very difficult in the constant salt air; but all works in due time. A car is necessary for the convenience of coming and going to grocery shop and visit the high points of the island. Daily walks along the beach or in the area or bicycle trips if preferred, visits to the local fishermen or the local (meaning the town of Current) store can get many of the daily supplies needed if you wish to minimize the use of a car. The beach in front of Getaway (only 50' away) has lost the large sand spread, but is wonderfully enjoyable with sand entrance to the water and rock ledge for beach chairs, campfires and gathering to watch the sunsets or just to 'hang-out' by the water. The beach area in front of Getaway offers easy, interesting snorkeling and an opportunity for an easy kayak trip in either direction from the property. On a windy day, it is an easy walk/bike ride to the opposite side of the island to have a more protected swim/walk or whatever - you can easily have the best choice each day you are there!! Sound like a wonderful place - it is!

An Amazing Vacation!

I don't often take the time to write reviews, but for our Getaway vacation I am making an exception. Getaway/Eleuthera are amazing! As other reviews have indicated, Getaway is even better than the pictures. Both the house and surrounding property are absolutely lovely ... extremely private but not isolated. There are some vacation homes down the road and Current Settlement (with a small store) is only a 5-10 minute walk . Getaway's shoreline is rocky (versus sand beach) but my kids actually preferred it. Lots of caves/ocean holes to explore! There are sandy patches at low tide and a great beach a short swim/walk away. Snorkeling in front of the cottage and down toward the Northside Beach! The cottage was nicely decorated, airy and very well equipped. The 4 bikes (which we used every day), kayak, beach towels and BBQ came in very handy. We used both the front and back screened-in areas on a daily basis. Tim was great to deal with (by phone and email) and answered our questions honestly, and on a very timely basis. Karen (Getaway's Caretaker) was also amazing ... very helpful, responsive and a super local resource. Would definitely recommend renting a car (4x4) to explore the area and the rest of the island ... although we liked Current the best! Delicious local take-out food at He-Brews in Upper Bogue (10 minute drive). Fresh bread available in Lower Bogue (5 minute drive). Also recommend hitting a pizza night at the Rainbow Inn Restaurant (20 minute drive). We had a fantastic time fishing and snorkeling with Captain Bruno from Underwood Charters out of Spanish Wells - highly recommended. Grocery shopping at the North Eleuthera Shopping Centre exceeded our expectations. They have a nice selection of produce/dairy and meats. Overall, a great vacation. We were struck by the friendliness/helpfulness of everyone on Eleuthera. On two occasions we had to stop by the side of the road - once for a bike repair, and another to look at a map - and within minutes locals offered assistance. We are already planning our return to Getaway next year!

Beautiful secluded spot

House was perfect. We had everything we needed and more. The water there was beautiful...saw a lot of colorful fish along the rocks. The host was very accommodating and responsive. The house has room for families but is perfect for a honeymoon or a couple's getaway. Loved it!!
