Not the best experience at first but did improve
This picture is not of the condo complex where we stayed. Also pictures of the actual location showed a beach and the villa where the owner and his family stayed. We were aware that there was no beach due to severe weather 2-3 years ago so that was not a surprise but the pictures should have been updated.
We arrived late at night and Enrico was there to collect the rent but did not tell us that we could purchase drinking water on site so had to boil water to make coffee. Also there were no towels in the unit and the property manager was not there The staff did not have access to the linens so we went all day without towels and water.
The unit was roomy with comfortable beds and furniture. The furniture and curtains were dirty and need to be replaced or cleaned The kitchen though was not well outfitted. There was a microwave but nothing to use in it for cooking. There were no coffee mugs, bowls or proper pots and pans. Only two of the elements of the gas stovetop worked. We asked Brendy for some items and she told us we would not be getting anything more than was already in the unit. We had been promised a toaster oven and we did get one after we were there for two weeks. The delay was because we arrived a week before Christmas and Brendy said she was on holidays and not able to help us. After complaining to the rental agent we received new cooking utensils, bowls, mugs and glasses.
The location is very nice as it is on the ocean with a lovely pool so it was wonderful to sit out and enjoy the sound of the waves. The pool was nice but not cleaned often enough, usually about every third day. The property itself was cleaned daily by Willie. It was nice to have 24 hr security and we never felt unsafe there or out in the neighborhood. Adelina did a wonderful job of cleaning our unit weekly and replacing the sheets and towels. She always had a smile and was very helpful.
Since our experience improved as time went on we would say that Sosua Paradise Condos overall would be a good place to stay with some upgrades. ie replace the stovetop with a stove or range, clean or replace furniture.
We were there for three months but had to leave two weeks early because of the spreading covid-19 virus. When we asked about a refund for the two weeks we were told that the owner never gives a refund. Hopefully he will give it to the staff who are likely out of work as a result of all of the tourists having to return to their home country.
