Lovely property in a beautiful part of Tuscany
This is a lovely property with a number of rental buildings on the property. We were in an outbuilding that looked over the vineyards - it was beautiful. Three bedrooms and two baths with a kitchen. There was a table that sat 6 inside with another table that sat 6 outside. Even though there was another family that shared the building with us, it has been designed to give maximum privacy to both sides. We never saw our neighbors other than at the communal pool.
The owner was great - we had a bottle of their own wine and one of olive oil waiting in our kitchen. He was very nice about showing us the place and how everything works.
The pool is lovely but is a rock surround rather than a cement surround but it was perfect for the hot afternoons.
Definitely go for the air conditioning. Most of our days were in excess of 35 degrees and it was the only reason we slept at night. There are electric meters that keep track of your useage and they automatically shut off at 10 am and start back up at 3 pm. For the 6 of us, it worked out to about €8 - €10 per day.
Two small items of note, however. First, the owner is not the property manager. So while the listing says the owner speaks English, he doesn’t. The property manager out of Switzerland speaks English. We speak a little Italian, so we were generally able to make do. Except when we came to the second item - the internet. The property is listed as having internet. All of our party needed internet for different purposes, ranging from reading the news to checking email. We had hoped that we would be able to watch videos and my husband was hoping to be able to do a video conference. None of that was possible. Half of us couldn’t even connect to the internet and those that could couldn’t use it. It would take three minutes to load the news if it didn’t time out first. We did tell the owner as well as the property manager and were told essentially that you could advertise that you had the internet but they didn’t guarantee the speed or the ability to use it. We were also told several insulting things such as the owner’s internet was working perfectly and maybe it was our “foreign devices” that wouldn’t connect. As my husband travels the world for work, we know that our devices connect. This issue could not be resolved and it cost us a lot of money in data and driving to Siena to use internet at a hotel.
We would definitely return as long as we had no need for internet.
