Reviewer Comments: Lovely well equipped home Everything you need in the kitchen, even glad wrap, foil, salt pepper etc A long walk to Iga if your fit but very direct. Everything close to unit Lovely bedding with plenty of pillows to chose from I appreciated the folder with emergency no s and take away menu s Little touches like full box of tissues, toilet paper, mosquito candle , coffee pods, local coffee pouch and biscuits were much appreciated Probably the thin towels and bent coat hangers were not up to scratch but I can certainly live with that. I’m use to having the shampoo, conditioner and body wash in a dispenser in the shower . I never bring soap so the little round bar of soap was hilarious for 6 days. Beautiful outlook on the canal listening to the birds. Excellent

Rest and Recoup

We loved everything about Pelican Brief. The moment we opened the door and saw the canal view we knew we were going to be having 4 days of pure relaxation. Waiting for us on the kitchen bench was the most scrumptious loaf of fresh bread, butter and blueberry jam. This served us for all the days we weee there. The place is clean, a HD giant TV, lovely hot showers and a few quirky swans waiting for food at the bottom of the stairs on the canal. The pick up of the key was super easy and Paynesville is beautiful. We would recommend eating out at Sardine. We had the degustation menu and cannot fault this place one bit. It was AMAZING and is a one hat restaurant. Thankyou for letting my mum and I stay in your beautiful house. We would love to come and stay here again! Anita and Brigitte

Location Pelican Brief

Reviewer Comments: I think this is our 5th stay here and we keep coming back. it is a perfect location for us who mostly walk everywhere, so easy access to town. The property has a lovely view, being on the canal. As much as we love this property, we immediately noticed that the standard of cleaning had deteriorated. the mop hadnt been out of the cupboard in a long time, the floors (bathroom & kitchen) are in dire need of a clean. I found a scrubbing brush & went to work on the kitchen bench & sink. There is usually some cleaning products in the laundry, none to be found this time, though there was a spray & wipe type of spray in the kitchen. The vacuum filter needs replacing, the vacuum was clogged with hair and really isnt fit for purpose. In summary, great property & location, lift the standard of cleaning, and there is no doubt we will be back. thank you

Reviewer Comments: Pelican Brief met all our expectations, the house was clean and tidy, beds very comfortable and the deck was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view, sunsets and the passing swans and pelicans. Great to have our own dock as we moored our sailboat there which made for easy getaways when sailing.

Boating at Pelican Brief

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family of 4 stayed at Pelican Brief in January. We loved Pelican Brief due to its fantastic location and of course its canal frontage and private jetty for our boat. It is close to town, boat ramp and direct access to the lakes. House was comfortable with good amenities, wifi and TV, great deck and outlook. One thing to note is that this house is attached to another but privacy was not an issue . FYI We left our trailer locked at the king st boat ramp as there was not quite enough room in the front yard at the house and it was not a problem. Gippsland Lakes Escapes was excellent to deal with, professional and answered all questions I had promptly. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Great property in good location

We arrived after agent had closed but key easily available in safe. Property was spacious with everything you could need. We wouldn’t hesitate in re-booking.

The view from the living area was fabulous and the deck overlooking the water very tranquil. A bit cold for us to make the most of the outside area, and unfortunately the blue green algae spoilt any fishing opportunity. Would be a haven in the warmer weather!

Great location

Communication was great from the beginning. We had to adjust the guests and this was no problem. Check in was above and beyond as we were running late for check in but family was already in Paynesville and was able to collect the keys earlier than anticipated. Only issue for us was the off street parking as we had 4 cars in total and no access to garage but we made do. Loved the layout and the view of the channel in the mornings and evenings. Mozzies are an issue when there is a large body of water so remember your bug-off. Would suggest having a DVD player for those that don't have streaming services, we used our laptop to play a DVD for the kids. Few minor issues but we flagged this on departure as they weren't a major issue during our 4 night stay. Will definitely consider this property for our next stay in Paynesville.

Pelican Brief - beautiful views but needs few things fixed

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pelican Brief has the most beautiful canal view! It was truly beautiful. Lots of bird life & perfect outdoor eating area. The house was very clean & the kitchen well stocked with oil, foil, glad wrap & lots of pots & pans etc. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Unfortunatley however there were a few issues that we were disappointed with which would prevent us recommending the house to others. .1. The fridge was only just cold. The fridge didn't even keep the drinks cool.2. Each & every time we used the toaster if tripped out the power in the entire kitchen. We had to keep going to power box outside to switch it back on. 3. The fly wire door to outside canal area would not shut easily. We had to use glass door instead. I also noted someone complained of this in a recent stayz review (obviously not fixed despite feedback).4. The 2nd bathroom towel rail kept falling down when towels were applied.5. The bin was missing the cover on the foot pedal (to lift bin lid). 6. The sky light in 2nd bedroom had a gap in it & spiders dropped down on 3 occassions.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: the unit is always beautifully clean and we always look forward to staying, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We can walk to town, sit on the deck & enjoy the peace & view, cook in with no difficulty. A few points we noticed this time to be reviewed by owner to deliver on expectations -the fridge was broken some blinds were brokenguttering around the house is blockedrain leaking into the main bedroomsliding rear wire door to the deck doesn't close properlywe were notified by the agent prior to arrival about the fridge, so we were aware a temporary smaller fridge was being placed in the laundry for our use until the fridge could be fixed. We used the smaller fridge for the first 2 days of our stay. inconvenient, but doable.the blinds were broken the last time we stayed which was 1 year ago, and still broken. very disappointing. The agent has advised that new blinds have been ordered.we had a torrential downpour one night which caused the guttering to overflow (it was a waterfall outside the kitchen window) and water started to drip madly from the window in the main bedroom. We thought we'd have to move rooms, but luckily it stopped raining. when we investigated, we could see weeds growing in the guttering.with the wire door not closing properly, there is always going to be a mosquito issue.once these issues are fixed, the unit will live up to guests expectation rather than look to the agent for compensatioin.we'll be back regardless
