Stylish Big Country House with large heated Magnesium Pool full aircon Paradou

Mas des Anges. Partially covered in Virginia creeper, grey wooden shutters, plantain trees to the fore , a wisteria covered pergola and a large gravel drive leading to the house., this is our home. Fully airconditioned throughout, we have 5 big double bedrooms and 5 bathrooms in a country house with very beautiful large gardens, an enormous fully heated swimming pool with magnesium not chlorine and not at all overlooked - it is stunning. The views are unparalleled.- the hills, olive trees and wild shrubs -completely quiet and tranquil. The old stone house ( dated 1820 ) is extremely comfortable and well appointed. It has been completely renovated to a very high standard with solid polished plaster floors set with oak strips, solid oak doors and huge french doors opening out to the various terraces and gardens. It has been maintained and decorated to a very high standard with big linen sofas a large wooden library with huge selection of books and, dvds . There is a large stone fireplace with wood burning stove and coffee table with books and candles. The Wifi throughout the house is good . There is a large 1600cm QHD Samsung television which receives both English and French channels Netflix and Apple tv for additional films.Sonos plays music via the wifi The kitchen is extremely well equipped with a large electric oven ,gas hob with 6 burners, microwave , magimix good quality pans, lots of utensils and very nice quality crockery and cutlery. The kitchen is open plan to the inside dining room with an oak table and chairs for 8 people though in the summer the door from the kitchen is to the west facing terrace near the pool where there is a large marble table under a shady pergola which has seating for up to 12. The stone swimming pool is 6m x 15m with stone steps at the shallow end surrounded by stone terraces with pots of tumbling flowers . There is a pool house with pizza oven and tools including a pizza paddle, a large gas barbecue lounge beds etc. Next to this is an additional room for changing with 2 loos and assorted toys , blow up lilos etc for the pool . The garden is 3 acres of mature trees, shrubs and fragrant flowers. There is a large lawn borded by cypress trees, hedges and secure by electric gates. so the garden is completely enclosed making it safe for children but the views are not hindered so the wonderful hills and fields can be seen. Clients all comment how a house with such amazing chic typically French interior design can be so very comfortable and relaxing. Its a super house for children as very safe and spacious.but equally good for a group of adults as it is luxurious and comfortable and the communal spaces work very well providing lots of space for entertaining .All bedrooms are enormous, beds are super king size 230 x210 so no one gets a small poky room. The master bedroom has a cot if required and changing station for baby and bouncy chair. Every bedroom has either an ensuite bathroom with bathtub toilet and double wash basins or a walk in shower room with large rain shower heads , a separate toilet and wash basins Toiletries and loo paper are provided to start you off and every room has a hairdryer. All rooms have large wardrobes, mirrors, chests of drawers and room fans and the upper rooms have air conditioning .All bedlinen is good quality 100% cotton and all towels are provided with separate towels for the pool.the utility room has a large overflow fridge and freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The house has air-conditioning in the whole house the hot summer we have just experienced we will be installing additional air conditioning in all bedrooms and living area for 2019 . The house has thick stone walls and shutters on the windows. Old French houses were very well designed to keep the fierce sun out in July and August and the mistral out in the winter ! This is a wonderful house Ideal for a large family or two families sharing with children as lots of room to be private or together . There is lots of outside seating with comfortable cushions, sunbeds, parasols, additional tables and really superb views over the Alpilles regarded as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The garden is beautifully planted with olive grove, fruit trees, fragrant white roses, a field of lavender and mature shrubs. Very peaceful location but easily accessible either walking to the nearest village of Paradou or car( 5 minutes ) to great restaurants, bustling markets and chic shops in Maussane One of the best bistros in Provence is Bistrot du Paradou which is 5 minutes drive away . Excellent golf course in Maussane. Horse riding in Paradou , fishing in nearby lake at St Remy.Popular with cyclists walkers and lovers of good food and wine. Vineyards for tasting visits many restaurants and bistros. Many festivals throughout the summer and wonderful food and bric a brac markets weekly in the village and nearby St Remy and Arles . This is the Provence that people dream about- quintessential , charming chic and authentic- a world away from glitz and excess ! The house epitomises this ethos and is loved by all that fall under its spell

A splendid two weeks

The view when entering the gate to Mas des Anges is more beautiful than the pictures. The house was well suited to accommodate 10 adults. Each of the bedrooms was spacious and there was plenty of room in the common living areas. The kitchen was adequately equipped. The pool is an added benefit, especially during the summertime when it can get quite hot in Provence. Jo, the property manager, was extremely helpful and responsive to our needs. She provided information about activities and addressed concerns as they arose. The housekeeper came twice a week and kept the interior tidy and provided clean towels and linens. Mas des Anges is extremely well-located, close to several villages, towns and cities with good sightseeing. Arles, Nimes, Uzès, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and the Luberon region are short drives away from the house and will keep any sightseer occupied with their Roman ruins, architecture, and historical monuments. Le Paradou, the closet village to the house, is a gem of a French provincial village. Highly recommended is the local boulangerie, which makes excellent bread, croissants, and other treats. We rented bikes from Daniel at Télécycles, and it was a great way to see the area. Daniel was helpful and delivered and picked up the bikes from the house. We hired a chef to prepare a dinner one evening. The chef, Kamal, was recommended by Alison, and he prepared a sublime five-course meal. We highly recommend Mas des Anges.

Wonderful house with a beautiful pool and garden, great facilities

Perfect from start to finish, owner Alison was very helpful and her "concierge" Jo, wonderful at knowing places to go. It is in a quiet wee village with easy access to the sites of Provence from Avignon to the Pont du Gard, and Arles to les Baux. The garden and pool entertained the children whilst the adults relaxed

A bientot Frank, Annette und Duke

A bit of Paradis in Paradou

The gates to the home open and the vista unfolds with lavender fields, olive trees and a beautiful home. It's like the gates of heaven opening each time you enter the property. The house and grounds were just lovely and Alison and Jo were extremely attentive to any and all needs and questions. We were there during the 109 degree heatwave and the pool was a delight. The thick walls kept the home cool so we didn't even need to run the air conditioning too regularly even with all the heat. Beds were very comfortable and the house was wonderfully outfitted for a vacation. Paradou is very centrally located and it was easy to travel to various markets, towns and vineyards from the house. Do know, however, that the house is a bit out of town and not a lot of commercial places to walk easily from the house. This also allowed for a great deal of serenity and absolute privacy. It was a perfect place to have family and friends all together. Would highly recommend, and the family was grateful to have access to such a treasure. We hope to be back!

Wonderful familh holiday

Just back from a weeks holiday in this wonderful property. Tim and I and our 3 children age ranges 19 to 25 with Sophie's boyfreind and Jamie's girlfiriend. One of the best family holidays we have had. Was rather nervous about renting a house as have to admit Tim and I are a fussy couple. But we needn't have been. It was like staying in someone's luxurious home that had just been featured in House and Garden ! Everthing you could possibly want for a perfect holiday. Oh and the beds ! I am going to ask Alison where she bought them from. The most comfortable sleep ever ! Tons to do in the area. I already knew that I loved this area of Provence and for a reason. The countryside is beautiful and so many villages and towns to visit on the doorstep. Alison left an extremely comprehensive manuel with everything you could need listed- times of markets/ restaurants/ all contact numbers etc etc. Alison's housekeeper Neassa is the loveliest most helpful person. Nothing was too much trouble with Alison herself checking we were all fine. Have only been back 24 hours and we have booked for next year !

Tasteful, homely villa in great location

We shared the house with another family for two weeks and had the best time! Great location with lots of easy to get to towns nearby and one of the best restaurants in the whole region in the same village! The Bistro du Paradou. The house is family friendly and pool right by the kitchen and outdoor eating area making it easy to watch kids. All the rooms are beautifully done and gardens very pretty too. Not overlooked in any way either. Can't think of any complaints and hope to return next year.

Wonderful family holiday

My family (party of 8 adults, 1 toddler and 1 baby) had a fantastic week stay here in June. The house and it's grounds are simply stunning, the photo's are great but truly can't do it justice, it's that beautiful! Also, the house seemed much bigger than i expected. The house was equipped with everything we needed - with the exception of English commentary during the Euros ;) I think we could have watched it if we had brought our Sky viewing card but hadn't realised this beforehand. There were an extreme amount of flies during the beginning of our stay i believe due to some unsettled weather before we arrived which of course could not be helped, but were difficult to keep on top of! They seemed to ease off as the week went on and the weather remained hot. Paradou is lovely, we used the house bikes to explore locally which was great. We used the pizza oven a couple of times which was fun. The pool was lovely and refreshing for us adults but i wish i had brought my baby's wetsuit costume as he (8 months old) found the pool too cold. Our toddler also found it a bit nippy but managed to brave it for longer. I'm sure if they had their wetsuits they would have been fine. The alarm on the pool gave piece of mind with the children. We would love to return one day and will be recommending this to all our friends in the future. Alison was fantastic, always friendly and warm and answered all our queries, her housekeeper was brilliant and very accommodating too.

Stunning destination

We were here for a family wedding and have stayed prior to this on a few occasions. The house remains a beautiful peaceful haven to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside and beautiful villages, Mausanne a firm favorite with a plentiful selection of eateries and a very welcoming square. We look forward to returning in the near future to this beautiful accommodation, well worth a visit.

Really beautiful house in gorgeous setting

we were completely satisfied in every way. The house and garden are immaculate. The kitchen very well stocked for serious cooking- every gadget, basic kitchen stock of oils and condiments, good knives and smart crockery and serving dishes. We took advantage of the lower rates at this time of year and were very happy as the weather was extremely pleasant and all the restaurants and shops in Maussane and Paradou open. We actually didn't go very far as we were very content at the house and going out to the villages for shopping and eating. The beds are sublimely comfortable and big !. Im hoping to come back next year as this is probably the best house we have ever rented. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and communicative which is always a comforting sign. Really top holiday !

An oasis in an area of natural beauty

After a long delayed journey from london we arrive in an idyllic little valley to mas des anges. Surrounded by lavender and rustic fields, it couldnt be more fitting to be named house of angels. Blissfully quiet apart from the soothing sound of crickets in the trees, it is exactly what i needed after the hustle and bustle of living in central london. The house and garden are spacious and beautifully decorated in the true provencal style you only ever see in magazines. Being an old stone farmhouse, the bedrooms were suprisingly cool even though the temperatures outside were reaching the 40s some days. Great kitchen and dining area that opens up onto another outdoor dining area with a fantastic bbq grill. Our only complaint was that we had to leave! This house is fantastically homely and the owner couldn't have been anymore helpful and charming with any requests we had. cant wait to return asap

DONT WANT TO LEAVE

I love this house, the surrounding area, the weather, the people… We arrived to a lovely chilled bottle of Rose in the fridge and a wonderfully open large renovated farmhouse with tons of character. The pool was amazing, in the sun for the whole day and with a wonderful cluster of pink and white flowers timing the edge. The owners could not have been more helpful booking restaurants for us and giving local recommendations. We felt relaxed and recharged and are booking for next year already. Perfect also for kids as the downstairs area is so open and straight out onto the lawn...

Beautiful house

We stayed at Mas Des Anges for a week in August. It's a very beautiful house set in a lovely garden and is a fabulous place for a large family to stay in Provence. All the bedrooms are really nice and there's a big lounge. The pool is right by the house and there's a large outdoor dining area under a veranda by the pool/house. The area is great. Paradou has two nice restaurants plus a mini-market, butcher and bread shop. Mausanne is very close by - almost joined on to Paradou and there are a lot of restaurants there. Les Baux is a couple of kms away. We've stayed in quite a few houses in Provence over the years and this is one of the nicest.

A nice family home

We rented this house with our four children and their various friends who joined throughout the two weeks. Its an easy 45 minute drive from Marseille airport, so good if there is lots of dropping off and collecting. The house is very much a home from home and filled with lovely things belonging to the owner which are left for everyone to use - a good selection of books, DVDs etc and a well laid out home with plenty of space so no one is tripping over each other. The pool is nice and large and the gardens and home are well maintained with the housekeeper being easily reached and able to sort out any problems. The kitchen is very well equipped which is good when you have lots of teens to feed and the house is easy to maintain and whilst very nice, not too fussy that you are frightened to touch anything. Although every bedroom has a bathroom, most have baths rather than showers. The village - Paradou - is a little further away than we thought. Dinner at the Bistro Paradou was very good, but the walk is about 30 minutes and in the dark would not have been easy (but the Bistro owner took us home). The area is very lovely and there is plenty to see around although a car is essential as most things are about 30 minutes to an hours drive and taxis not easy. The house is easy to miss on arrival - second drive on the right down the lane so be sure to arrive in daylight to find it! The owner is extremely helpful and the process of booking the property and recommendations for restaurants etc was very easy. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby and this house is perfect if you are looking for an authentic Provencal holiday.

Heaven

Well - what can I say - we absolutely loved this place. I really can't begin to describe what a lovely week we had. My sister asked me how I would score it out of 10 and I said 9.5. When she asked what the missing half was I replied it was because I had to go home at the end of the week! I seriously didn't want to leave! Both our families loved it so much - it was just perfect for us all. The boys hired some super bikes from a man with a van who delivers and collects - they were thrilled and cycled for miles off the beaten track along canal paths, past fields of sun flowers and across the mountain ranges - they were SO happy. All the kids ranging from age 6 to 20 were non stop swimming, cycling, football, table tennis - you name it they did it. We also had my disabled mother with us and the property was great for her although there is one step into the shower and one down in to the bathroom which wasn't a problem for us but may be for other disabled guests so best check to be sure. Overall our whole group absolutely loved this place despite my grumpy half for having to actually leave at the end of the week! The owner is really lovely and helpful and has amazing taste and I honestly admire her for being able to rent out her beautiful home to total strangers. We were most envious of the people arriving the day we were leaving! Honestly - you cannot fail to fall in love with this place. It's just heavenly and we cannot wait to return. Thank you so much for such a wonderful holiday which has created so many happy memories for us all.

A perfect spot

We stayed at Mas des Anges in August 2014 for one week and enjoyed one of our best ever family holidays there. There were 6 of us including 4 teenagers/young adults aged 15-20. The house itself is beautiful and is finished to a very high standard in a typical Provençal style with all the facilities in good working order, some brand new. The villa is situated just outside the village of Paradou which is a 20 minute walk to the local patisserie, butchers and Spar shop, or 10 minutes on one of the bikes provided. Whilst not remote the villa is both private and peaceful; it is not overlooked and has views over the lovely gardens and hills beyond. There are many places to sit and enjoy the view either in full sun or shade. The pool is large and there is plenty of room for sunbathing. There is a pool house with sofas etc but we didn't use it as the weather was lovely enough to sit outside all the time. There is lots of information in the villa concerning local attractions and restaurants and there is a lot you can see and do within a half hour's drive of the villa. We particularly liked the Carrieres et lumieres at Baux. Also Alison the owner kindly booked 2 of the highly recommended restaurants for us ahead of time and we were not disappointed with either (Bistrot Paradou and Chateau d'Establon). In all we loved this villa, it was home from home in an idyllic setting and probably one of the prettiest villas we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in lots of them!) We would highly recommend this villa for a family holiday as there was a good mix of cultural activities and chilling by the pool. We hope to return!

A hard place to leave

One of the most important features of this house is the location, I have been to this area of France maybe 7 or 8 times in the last 6 years and in my opinion where it is situated gets the best out of the region. The house itself is nestled into a shallow valley with a splendid view of rolling hills, meadows and farmland, it feels as though you have the entire valley all to yourself, it's so secluded and tranquil. But a few minutes drive/ten mins walk and you are in Paradou where you can buy groceries and supplies, a further 5 mins drive and you are in Maussane, a charming village with a lively square and some larger grocery stores and patisseries. Beyond that you are equidistant from Marseille and Aix an hours drive to the East and Montpellier an hour to the West, the ancient towns of Avignon and Arles are 20 and 30 minutes away respectively and closer to home you have gorgeous St. Remy de Provence, Fonvielle and a whole bunch of other charming little villages full of great restaurants, more vineyards than I can count and amazing hiking and cycling terrain. In my opinion you will miss out on far too much without a car, but if your plan is to live it up in this house then you won't be disappointed with that either. The house itself is so well prepared, there honestly isn't a thing we felt we missed or needed in the time we spent here. There is a bunch of bicycles here to use, a table tennis table, bowls, a big swimming pool, a wood fire pizza oven, a great kitchen for cooking with friends, they have like 100 dvds and they're actually ones you want to watch! Not just like 5 discs that came free with readers digest, I think its perfect for people of any age or demographic. It is very cosy and is decorated in the provincial style of the area that we love. What we also enjoyed was information left by the owners in binders about where to find the best vineyards and markets and restaurants etc. it really cut the corners, and the amount of freshly prepared towels and bed sheets they have, the house is very well stocked. For us and the time we spent here, we really wish we didn't have to leave, but we do so feeling thoroughly relaxed and revitalised.

10/10 Excellent

A very relaxing haven

A really beautiful period house with great facilities (decent size pool/pretty garden/large kitchen-diner) in an old village close to all the major sites of Languedoc and Eastern Provence. The house had a very calm ambience (beautifully decorated) and was also very secure (only access is through a courtyard gate, which locks). This made the house very quiet and relaxing (the only sound being the bells of the sheep in a nearby field). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My only caveat wd be that the website details don't make clear this house, while absolutely ideal for adults and older children, is not particularly suited to toddlers/babies because the bedrooms are all independently accessed externally around a courtyard (ie there is no internal corridor so parents can't hear what is happening in any of the other bedrooms from their room and a woken child wd have to wander across a courtyard to get to them) and the only access to the first floor TV room/upstairs bedrooms is also only external (via uneven steps). Consequently we would have had a complete hernia on arrival if our kids had still been little!!!

8/10 Bien

Beautifully Renovated Farm House

We had a very happy and peaceful holiday in this villa with its generous pool and pretty garden. Perfectly located for exploring Provence and the Carmargue, there is plenty to do and the local village has a vibrant 'place' perfect for casual suppers and people watching. Having teenagers who like to 'chill', we also found Mas Des Anges a very relaxing and friendly environment in which to enjoy reading, swimming and card games both inside and out. We found the owner very helpful, providing us with lots of information and keen to assist us with any queries. I would definitely recommend this house to friends especially those who appreciate The Provence style of interior design.

I am a retired dentist, though now live mainly in the south of France where we run a chambre d'hotes called Château St Victor la Coste 30 minutes north of Avignon . I have three adult children, who love the house and area as much as I do! Mas des Anges is very much a family home, and we have had many parties and family gatherings here over the years. Both daughters married here with marquees in the garden so it holds many special memories. The house is very lovely with views across the surrounding valley with amazing tranquility and light. We are a family very interested in art, film and music. The library has an interesting collection of contemporary art books and an eclectic mix of DVDs in French and English. though all the usual Netflix etc are already installed on the smart TV . We are also foodies so lots of recipe books!and a very well stocked kitchen . We now have 2 grandchildren so the house is well-equipped with baby stuff and toys - even a goal for football players, tennis rackets and boules. I am a passionate gardener and have planted many fruit trees and 22 olive trees. The garden is particularly beautiful in May and June when the roses are stunning. I am constantly tweaking the house, loving interior design and having studied art and art history at university . We have had new cushions made for outside 2024 and are constantly flattered that people find the house chic and attractive. The pool is magnesium and heated with underwater lighting for nighttime swimming and completely secluded and private.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We are true Francophiles and had holidayed for many years in this area and other parts of the south of France. This area kept drawing us back. It is magical! there are many beautiful places to visit for a true flavour of Provence. The local markets bustling with colour and vibrancy, amazing little restaurants both casual and smart with excellent choice and standard. The village of Maussane is lively and chic with lots of lovely little shops and a weekly food and souvenir market. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and deservedly has a reputation of attracting artists and writers. There are many festivals throughout the summer celebrating local culture. Luckily the area is still unspoilt! We found the house nestling in the hills of the Alpilles completely tranquil and bathed in sunlight. It charmed us immediately ! The views are uninterrupted countryside with sheep and olive trees- quintessential rural Provence. yet everything you need - restaurants , food markets, charming village square and gorgeous little shops are all within a 5 minute drive. The garden is all enclosed and a complete delight. the house has thick old stone walls so is cool in the summer though we have installed air conditioning this year in the bedrooms and a wood burnering stove in the big fireplace in the salon in the cooler winter months. Life is easy here. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances, pans etc for proper cooking and there is a large gas barbecue for those hot days when everyone wants to eat outside. in addition there is a very efficient pizza oven in the pool house with all necessary tools. All the rooms are spacious- theres not one cramped, tiny bedroom and all bathrooms are modern and work well ! we stayed in many houses previously where there was always a compromise but this house suits everyone! we arrive with kids, friends and oldies and all relax immediately. Its an all season house.Theres plenty of space to be together or retreat so life is easy here.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Peace tranquillity and beauty. The garden is very beautiful and big with amazing views. The house is spacious and cool( air conditioning in every room ) with beamed ceilings and an enormous fireplace with wood burner for cooler evenings in early spring or late autumn. We love the easy open plan way that the rooms flow and the complete privacy of all bedrooms having their own generous bathrooms .There is no small bedroom, so everyone has lots of space. The pool is very large, with a hydrolyzed magnesium system with a pompe chaleur causing heating and absolutely healthy with no horrible chlorine or salt residue - it makes you feel wonderful and is beneficial to health and well-being - and is being installed in expensive spas as is also good for the environment. We garden organically.so no nasty pesticides and lots of fruit and tomatoes so please help yourself ! This space works so well for families or large groups. I love that it is so near to all the lovely villages around but feels completely in the countryside with no noise or distractions. We have decorated the house to suit this comfortable ambiance so that it feels modern but cosy and very comfortable. All the beds are incredibly comfortable good quality with excellent bedlinen - this is very important to us. It's easy to either walk or 5 minutes in the car to the village of Paradou with all amenities and a very famous restaurant, The Bistrot du Paradou - featured on television by Rick Stein. It is only 15 minutes by car to the fascinating city of Arles yet 15 minutes over the hills to the stylish town with 2x weekly market of St Remy de Provence . It really is perfectly situated .the house is very much loved and has regular clientele who come every year
