Mice, mice droppings and unclean dishes in cabinets

We found dirty dishes in cabinets such as plates, pans and mugs that were used but not washed. Like a prank. One mug had an old tea back stuck in the bottom that wouldn’t come out. Then found mouse droppings in drawer underneath stove. I have pics of all of this. We then found the live mouse who set up a nest in bathroom drawer with a box of q tips. Could not catch it. Owner sent brother who also saw the mouse but was scared to grab it and I don’t blame him. We had a toddler and two 5 year olds staying with us and we had to leave the first night so didn’t complete the stay. Owners brother was nice, but we really needed a pest control and a DEEP clean of the entire house. I’m struggling to get a refund and owner has been non responsive. I will be trying to dispute charges with Amex. There were also stink bugs, but we didn’t care about them after the mouse running around. He had been there awhile and was getting pretty big…unless it was a female about to have babies…can’t rule that out either. Other than that…it was nice.

Perfect location for our needs and spacious!!!

This VRBO was in the best location for our needs, very spacious, and very comfortable. It was an older home with beautiful windows & doors, intriguing antiques and artwork. We enjoyed the views, the pool table, and sunroom!

Wedding at Howard Finster Paradise Garden

The cottage was cozy and lots of space to have conversations with family. The kitchen space is great with granite countertops and a new dishwasher and plenty of dishes. The beds were very comfortable and the fans helped to keep the rooms noise free from the highway nearby. The checking was easy and the property is secluded and safe.

Great place for Finster Fest

The place grew on us as we stayed and overall was a wonderful stay. We annually come to Summerville for Finster Fest and it was a great nearby base location to relax after each day. The seating areas and comfy, eclectic spaces were neat. The grounds would also have been fun, but the lack of maintenance made it hard to fully enjoy. Also the bathrooms and toilets were small with issues of shifting seats. Finally, we had a contingent of stink bugs that joined us which was a little frustrating.

Not pleased with property overall

Pictures are deceiving. This is a very old house with what seems like several add ons, one section of the house does not have central heat or air, there was a small space heater for the master bedroom, but took a long time to get warm, was VERY cold the first night, we only had hot water about half of the time when taking showers. The house was not filthy, but it definitely wasn’t super clean, dead bugs everywhere, cobwebs in ceiling, and windows. The biggest disappointment was that the sunroom is not heated, nor is there any way to heat it, that was literally the main reason we booked this rental and we weren’t even able to enjoy it, our kids had to bundle up in jackets to even go out there. The area around the house is less than appealing, run down equipment and unkept grass/fields. Pictures should be updated so guests know exactly what they are getting. One positive, we did see some great wildlife in the field outside. There was some odor in the house that had myself and another guest sneezing the entire time. There is only one skillet in the kitchen, made it very difficult to cook anything. When we stripped the beds to leave, there are huge stains on the king bed right where we had been laying our heads! Disgusting!

Quiet and secluded! A lovely way to get away from it all while still close to modern conveniences!

We absolutely love this place! It was the perfect location for us to spend a working vacation and visit with our family. The home is roomy and very cozy. It would definitely work for a family as well. The kitchen is great and has everything one would need to make a meal. And the view of Taylor's Ridge is just beautiful. I cannot say enough good things about Nancy either. She's very responsive and attentive to her guests' needs. Definitely would recommend Nancy's place to anyone traveling to the Summerville/Chattooga County area.

What an amazing location

For our first housing rental this place was amazing. There was more then enough space for the 8 of us, with space to relax and have "chill" space. The rooms were open the lots of activities for the kids and a plethora of adventure nearby to go visit. For the adults we loved that we could see the fireworks from the sun and game room. The kids loved the pool table.

Room to sprawl

Perfect for an extended family reuniting for a family occasion. Plenty of space with multiple living areas, plenty of fenced yard for Otis to take care of business.

Our stay

Everything was very nice. Only a couple of hiccups. I had to repair two cabinet doors. One was extremely loose, the other came off in my hand. Not a big deal but property manager might need to check these things occasionally. Please make sure the Wi-Fi password reflects the difference in upper and lowercase. There are a few holes in the fence big enough for even a large size dog to slip through or under. Probably need to update the grill set a little bit, needs a new brush soon. And a few more bath towels. We really enjoyed the record player and music selection. The pool table was a big hit. Wish it had been a little warmer to be able to enjoy the sun porch more. We had no major issues and really enjoyed our stay.

A (mostly) great getaway

This property is spacious, secluded and comfortable and was perfect for our 2-family holiday getaway. The kids and dogs could run around on the property, the kitchen was comfortable and the location is great. We were able to spend some days at home relaxing and do day trips to Atlanta and Chattanooga. And the little town was charming and had plenty of food and grocery options. Overall it was a great stay. Like most vrbo places I've stayed, the mattresses are not comfortable. If you like a really soft bed you'll be fine. The biggest thing was that, overall, the house feels dated. There's lots of old furniture that I was worried about the kids going near. A chair in the corner was broken and one of the dressers had a bent leg. And the sunroom, which I'd been really looking forward to spending time in, was so musty we avoided it. We tried to air it out but it didn't seem to work. I think the property could use a good clean-through and updating, then it would be perfect.

It was perfect! My family kept thanking me!

It was great! We were close to family but it was also our own space. We listen to records, played games and pool, had a bonfire, enjoyed the wonderful scenery! A few updates would be nice but those are little in the grand scheme! Wonderful all around 1st time experience with vrbo.

Roomy space

We were a group of 6 adults. The interior decor was quaint and charming. The common areas were spacious and comfortable and the kitchen was modern and well-equipped. However, the mattresses and pillows need to be replaced and things could have been cleaner. The weeds were extremely high at the back of the house and the overall curb appeal was disappointing.. None of this kept us from having a wonderful time.

Beautiful property but house was too hot to enjoy!

We chose this property based on the size and the charm the inside offered. We absolutely loved the decor and. Each room had its own effect. We planned on taking family pictures while there. After arriving however, we noticed the AC was not working properly. Notified the guest contact Nancy and the next morning someone came out. Said it was brand new and filter had the not been changed so it froze over. Said to give it a couple hours and it should function properly. Sadly, that did not happen. We spent the entire stay sweating... I’m mean dripping sweating. My two young boys could barely sleep it was so hot. The box fans helped a little but it was still just uncomfortable the whole weekend! The customer service we received was great and quick. Wish it had fixed the problem though. Def would recommend getting this fixed for future guests. It’s such a charming place.

Home away from Home

This property is stunning. Perfect for the family. The beds were all comfy, plenty of linens, kitchen, and laundry items. The small kids enjoyed exploring and playing. Plenty of space for everyone. Thank you for offering this little gem.

The best rental!

I travel a lot. This is the best property I’ve ever rented. The pics didn’t do the place justice. It was an absolutely wonderful farm house. It had so much character. Great for teens and adults. Plenty of room to spread out. The sun room was amazing, even when it rained. Very relaxing and peaceful place.

This home is absolutely beautiful and spacious! It was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and all appliances worked perfectly. The listing company is also extremely helpful and easy to get in touch with if needed. We are already planning our next visit!

Do not waster your money. Not worth it. Dirty, unsantitary, no view.

Run down and old, musty, mold inside house and dead ugs everywhere and were not cleaned up before our arrival. Worse VRBO I have ever rented. Wasted my money!

Great Stay

We enjoyed our stay in Summerville! The property was beautiful with views from every window. My husband and I took multiple trips to see the amazing views from the top of the hill. Our only issue was that the property has a remote open gate, this gate was broken d uring our stay which the gate was replaced by with plastic chicken wire material bungee corded to the pole. So every time leaving and entering the property we had to get out and manually open and close which on our first night was in the rain.

Weekend Getaway

We traveled here for a weekend getaway with friends and had a great time! The home is wonderfully decorated, but it is an old home and could use a tiny bit of maintenance. The mountain view from the hillside in the back was gorgeous and I especially liked the "secret garden" area to the side of the house.

Not what we expected

We were not aware that there was a second property manager involved in this rental, even though the listing indicated that an outfit by the name of Evolve managed this property. In all of the years of VRBO rentals, we have never seen this before, but we'll certainly look for it in the future because other property mangers do not have the same standards. This rental was not up to the standards that we've come to expect from VRBO. Functionally, everything inside the house worked fine, but it was a old place with a very musty smell and in much need of repair and maintenance; the property was extremely overgrown as well.
