Fantastic spring break!

A great time was had by all. The "all" included 4 adults, 2 boys ages 9 & 10, and 2 girls ages 11 & 12. We rented it for the indoor heated pool in the middle of March in Iowa and couldn't have asked for anything better. Kids spent countless hours in the pool which is deep enough to dive in and they were thrilled. It had a basketball hoop and 2 basketballs that they spent much time playing. In addition we took a floatable volleyball net, pool rings and pool loungers. We took food so never had to leave and the kids liked only getting out long enough to eat and then back in they went. By evening they were finally wore out so we all played some games. Charades was a huge hit and we did a lot of laughing and snacking. By the 2nd day the kids were asking when were we going to come back again. So it got a thumbs up from them as well as the adults. These were nice ages to get full use of the pool, as all could swim and loved the water. The rest of us enjoyed watching their antics with a couple of us adults getting in and playing some games with them. An added plus is the owner lives in the upper half and when you have any questions a simple text and he is quick to respond and very friendly. Would we rent again? ABSOLUTELY!!!! Looking forward to next spring break if not before.

Just what we needed!

Just lost my wife to cancer and the family decided on a nice getaway. Mother in law ended up finding this place and I’m glad she did. The hospitality was amazing and the kids had a blast at the property especially the indoor pool. Everything we needed for a nice getaway was there and more as the property owner was always in contact and making sure we had what we needed at all times.

Family get together

My husband and I were visiting some family the house was just perfect amount of space.the beds were comfortable and clean,and my kids enjoyed swimming in the pool 🏊‍♂️ The host was very attentive to us and immediately answered our questions

Halloween 2022

This place was like living the American Dream. Wish the kids could have stayed longer but they had to eat their pumpkin waffles and go to school the next morning! Adults stayed and enjoyed morning water aerobics. Pat was amazing and helped as soon as we texted him. We will 100 % be back to enjoy the river and more. Thanks to the Postons for their great hospitality!

Beautiful property

Beautiful property and gorgeous indoor pool. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the basement. The owner was very accomodating and attentive, but not obtrusive at all. I would highly recommend.

Excellent family getaway

Excellent family getaway for two adults and four kids (ages 10 - 1 years old). We primarily booked this for the pool. It is one of the best indoor, private pools that we have been to in a rental. Although it could be cold during the winter, they had multiple space heaters available for us which was more than enough. The kids didn’t seem to mind at all. Plenty of fun things to do in the pool. We didn’t enjoy the outside activities as much since the kids were preoccupied with a pool and it was cold, but could see them having a lot of fun in warmer times. The highlight is the owner who is very attentive to your needs. I will definitely book again.

Excellent Family Vacation Spot

This place had everything my family was looking for like an indoor heated pool, outdoor things to explore, and indoor games for all ages! Pat communicated with us the whole time to make sure our needs were being met. He knew we had a young child so the pack-n-play was set up when we arrived. Pat's excellent communication made us feel like we were staying at a friend's house, inviting and comfortable. We all enjoyed walking around the property and checking out the old time cabin. Both of our boys (5 &2) loved playing in the playroom. They hardly touched the toys we brought for them because there are so many things to play with here. Our teenagers, stayed in the pool most of the time. All of us slept very well. We had a fabulous time and would like to come back it the summer to get a "warmer weather" experience!

Family Getaway

Stayed for a long weekend with family friends with kids aged 16 to 6 months and there was something for everyone. Pat was very responsive to requests and addressing issues.

Fantastic!

Our family enjoyed staying at this lovely place with a fantastic pool! The grounds were very interesting to see! The house is located among many trees, so it made for a nice nature walk. We had a fire in the fire pit. Pat (the owner) gave us a starter log, newspaper, and some logs to put on the fire. Pat communicated very quickly and was very helpful and accommodating. We saw Pat getting wood when we were out on our walk, so stopped to talk to him. He was very friendly. The place had everything we needed. We loved everything about this rental and look forward to staying there again!!

One of a kind experience!

We booked this rental property because of the indoor pool and it did not disappoint! My husband and I and our 3 and 5 year olds enjoyed a relaxing and fun stay at this property. It was April during covid and we were looking for a drivable location where we could enjoy some private indoor swimming. This place was perfect! The Pool: The owner of this property created a such a beautiful indoor pool. It's a large pool that you would expect to find at a hotel, not someone's home. The architecture is lovely with a high vaulted ceiling and windows surrounding it so that you almost feel like you're outdoors. The pool was clean and WARM! If the outdoor temperature is chilly, the owner has a high powered space heater in the pool room that you can turn on and off as needed to keep the area around the pool nice and warm as well. I think it would be lovely in any season - in the summer you could open the many sliding glass doors around the pool to get the feel of an outdoor pool and in the winter you could keep it toasty warm while swimming in a pool and looking outside at the snow covered hills around you. My kids are still talking about the "pool house" and asking when we can go back. The Accommodations: You are staying in the basement of the property so some of the bedrooms don't have any windows. It is clean and comfortable with all the amenities we needed. A full kitchen, a TV with cable and options for watching DVDs. The beds were comfortable and honestly if we needed something, the owner of the property probably would have gotten it for us as he was very attentive and responsive. Because it's a basement, it's a little dark overall, but the brightness of the pool and beautiful outdoor property make up for it. Fun Exploration: On the property there are other fun things to enjoy. There is a small pond, an impressive teepee and, our favorite; an historic old cabin full of antiques. Our girls had a great time exploring the old cabin and we even had a fire in it and roasted marshmallows one night. Overall we had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back. The owner of the property was a perfect combination of accommodating and responsive but also remained elusive so that we felt as though we were the only people there.

Fantastic!

We had a wonderful stay at this home in Iowa. The owner was very communicative and thoughtful. We had complete privacy. The pool was absolutely magic! There were so many fun things on the property to explore. Our family had a wonderful time.

A fun, family getaway!

I can't say enough good things about this property. The home was comfortable, the grounds are beautiful, the pool was FANTASTIC, and to see my kids with so many smiles on their faces was priceless. Pat was unbelievably kind and helpful, going above and beyond to check in and make sure we had everything we needed. I'm so grateful we stumbled upon this place!

Fun Family Adventure

We found Racoon River Retreat originally as a place to get away with a pool and try to keep some COVID safety. In the end we found a wonderful gem of a hidden retreat! Not only is the pool a great spot to relax but the property has many unique features that kept the kids interested and entertained. Pat was a great host attending to our needs and offering ideas and suggestions.

Relaxing getaway

Great family getaway

This property boasts an awesome, full-size indoor pool—in Iowa! This VRBO is the basement level and indoor pool space of a home cabin. The owners were home, but were out of sight and contactless. They were more than responsive to any needs. There are four bedrooms and a ping pong table. The kids had a blast. The owners let us know the WiFi was slow, so we downloaded shows and brought a gaming system. It worked well. Great stay!

Perfect for bachelorette party

We were looking for somewhere to go for my bachelorette party that we could be safe and still have fun. This was perfect thanks to the pool and spacious area! It’s also so close to Des Moines that when we did leave it wasn’t far at all. We had so much fun and were all so sad the weekend was over.

Wonderful weekend stay

This was a perfect weekend getaway. Everybody in my group especially the kids had such a great time. The owners were incredibly nice and responded quickly with any questions I had. Definitely will be recommending this place to friends and family. We can’t wait to go back.

Great country retreat

We booked this for the pool, but were pleasantly surprised by how nice the surrounding property is. I understand the hosts are new to renting the place, and seem to be very dedicated to making this a great experience for their guests. It's a basement "apartment" in a larger house, so it does have a bit of a basement feel, but it stayed nice and cool, and the darker rooms helped my kids actually sleep in (a little). The host was very responsive to all of our requests, but otherwise we had total privacy. We would never have known that someone was on the upper level. Our kids had a great time in the indoor pool and playing in the teepee, checking out the woods, and swinging by the pond in the tire swing. My dad enjoyed just sitting on the patio and watching the trees in the breeze.

Beautiful location with a perfect indoor pool!

We were looking for a property to rent with an indoor pool and this property was perfect! Lovely, country location away from it all with an amazing indoor pool. Enough space for two families of four, lots of property and nature to explore, and nightly fires under the stars made this the perfect vacation. The property owner was very attentive to all of our needs and we had complete privacy. We recommend staying here! Great for families or couples.

Family fun

We spent most of our time outdoors and in the indoor pool. The pool area was very clean with a lot of seating, a big screen TV with cable, many different toys, floats and towels to use. The owner was very helpful and kept the pool temperature at our liking. Having firewood provided daily and multiple areas to have a fire at night was a bonus! The kids enjoyed exploring the teepee and cabin as well. Living quarters could use a few updates but overall it was a fun experience for our whole family. Adel has a neat town square with very friendly people and local places to dine at.
