Ironbark Hill Retreat is a unique five-bedroom house, perfect for groups, families, friends, and wedding guests seeking a quintessential vineyard stay in the heart of Hunter Valley wine country.

This private retreat is designed for entertaining there are two fabulous undercover dining areas; one completely enclosed with screens and louvre windows, and the other a sun-drenched deck with views over the vineyard. Catering for your guests will be a pleasure in the fully equipped contemporary kitchen with a Nespresso coffee machine, large chefs' oven, gas cooktop, dishwasher, and all the modern conveniences. On those chilly evenings relax in the open-plan lounge room and sit back with friends and enjoy a bottle of wine beside the roaring combustion log fire. Enjoy exclusive use of the sparkling private pool in summer and equipped with reverse-cycle air conditioning this makes the Retreat a perfect choice all year round. If you are feeling energetic enjoy a game of tennis on the Retreats' private court or take a stroll through the grounds and visit Peter Drayton's cellar door for a memorable wine tasting.

A great way to explore the area is by bike on the brand-new cycleway that runs all the way along Hermitage Road, linking more than a dozen wineries along the vine-lined route from the New England Highway in the north to Broke Road in the south. There are several places where you can hire bikes on the Trail and set off on your two-wheel adventure.

Popular for bridal parties and wedding guests of Ironbark Hill, the Retreat is ideally located to the venue as well as the best cellar doors and restaurants that the Hunter Valley has to offer.

The accommodation consists of 5 bedrooms plus 3 bathrooms (two ensuites), allowing accommodation for up to 13 guests in total comfort.

How We Price: The booking price is based on a minimum number of guests. Any guests above this number are chargeable on a per person/per night rate. The system will automatically calculate the correct rate when you enter the required number of guests. Reductions in guest numbers are non-refundable.

Arrival Details: Access to the property is made simple. You’ll receive an access code via SMS just before 3pm on your arrival day, which you’ll use for the duration of your stay. Standard check-in is at 3pm. While an earlier arrival may be possible, it cannot be confirmed until the afternoon prior to your arrival. If an earlier check-in is available, we will send you an SMS by 4pm the day before to confirm.

Linen: 1 set of full bed linens and 1 bath towel per person are supplied. Guests may wish to bring extra towels depending on the length of their stay. Pool/Lake/Beach towels are BYO

Guest Amenities: We are Eco-Friendly - to help reduce wastage, we supply a single bottle of 3in1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash in all showers. In addition, guests are advised to bring their own personal preferred bathroom products/amenities.

Wifi is provided complimentary on behalf of the owner. It is intended to be used in an appropriate manner by all guests. As the service is provided by an external 3rd party, Weekenda cannot and do not guarantee the speed or efficacy of this property's wifi connection nor do we pay any compensation for interruption of service for any reason.

Pools: If the property has a Swimming Pool then it will be opened for swimming for the start of the NSW September School Holidays and closed and Winterised immediately after the NSW Easter School Holidays have been completed.

Fires and Firewood: Internal wood fireplaces and outdoor fire pits only operate after the NSW Easter School Holidays up to before the NSW September School Holidays in line with NSW state fire restrictions. Please note: we will normally supply enough firewood, kindling & fire-starters for between 1-2 nights of your stay. For guests wishing to have additional fires, we suggest BYO Firewood, Kindling, and Starters which can be easily purchased from the local service stations.

No Party Policy: All reservations operate under a Strict No-Party & Non-Excessive Noise Policy as prescribed in the NSW Short-Term Letting Legislation and Local Council Laws. This property is in a Residential Area. Failure to comply can put the security bond into jeopardy and may lead to police-assisted eviction and/or extra charges being levied. We hate to have to note this but the reality is that so far this year we have had to evict 3 groups for overstacking/bad/anti-social behavior.

Extra Guests / Visitors: The number of people nominated on your booking is the maximum number of people that are allowed to be on the property at any one time, including visitors. Visitors may be requested and if approved must be approved in writing with Weekenda staff. Simply put, if Mum and Dad want to come over for a BBQ then we are likely to approve. If 10 extra people want to stop by we are unlikely to approve, which could put your booking at risk. We will always try to be reasonable with reasonable people within property constraints and House Rules.

Cameras and Noise Monitoring: There are external security cameras installed at this location presently but the owner reserves the right at any time to install additional external cameras at their discretion. Cameras are positioned on the commercial premises of the Brew House Cafe and Cellar Door on site which capture the Villas and Retreat from a distance for external security monitoring only. All cameras are installed in line with local regulations. A noise monitoring device is installed - fines apply to guests found to have disconnected, removed or damaged the noise device. These devices are used to monitor and maintain ours and guests responsibilities under the NSW STR Code of Conduct.

Guest Registration / ID Check : Weekenda requires every guest to complete and sign an electronic guest registration prior to arrival which will ask for photo ID i.e. a copy of your Drivers Licence or Passport. The primary booker will also be required to complete a list with the guests names and actual mobile numbers. In the event we are unable to reach the primary booker, it is very important we can get a hold of other guests. These documents will be deleted after your departure. Access Codes are only released to Registered and Verified Guests.

Critical Update: Due to an unprecedented influx of fraudulent bookings, we are forced to impose a policy that protects our clients, industry and community against those attempting to commit fraud and theft. Any booking made within 5 days of arrival is required to provide a photo of a valid credit card in the same full name of the primary guest to match the supplied identification document. Failure of these documents matching will result in the booking being cancelled and all funds processed returned to the original card assumed as stolen and thus a fraudulent transaction. We trust we have our honest and genuine customers understanding this policy is in place to protect all parties.

Insurance: As always, but ever so more due to recent times, we strongly encourage any holidaymakers to obtain a very inexpensive 3rd Party Domestic Travel Insurance Policy to cover you for all manners of matters which may restrict travel. This is particularly helpful for things like Hunter Valley Concert cancellations, Covid or Medical and Other Emergencies for which we don't provide refunds, and anything which falls under our standard Terms & Conditions irrespective of the reason. We suggest reviewing policies with 'Cover-More' or 'Travel Insurance Direct' or 'Insureandgo'

Relaxing, great location
Very happy with our recent stay just after Xmas. Location was great and the kids loved the nearby horses in the paddock that they could visit each day. Rooms were spacious and the property and pool were clean and maintained. We had a small problem with ants in the kitchen but once sprayed they seemed to disappear. Would definitely stay again.

Phenomenal place for a large group to stay
Was a fantastic experience!!! We had an absolute ball and loved the place. A group of 12 adults here for a wine tour and this is a wonderful place to stay. Clean, spacious, lots of different social areas to sit. The pool, tennis court and large grass area were fantastic for us to spend our afternoons. Wish we had bought citronella candles as lots of bugs and mosquitoes around. But more a suggestion for travellers. Would definitely stay here again!!!!!

Fantastic
We stayed here for my son’s wedding we had the groomsmen staying as well, bedrooms were big, the pool was a hit as it was quite hot. Would recommend for anyone having a wedding at Enzo at Ironbark as it is in walking distance. There was a wedding there on the Friday night and we didn’t hear a thing, only when the fireworks went off and we were able to enjoy them as well, it was very peaceful during the day and night, the scenery was beautiful.

Amazing get away in wine country!
Overall our experience was great. We had a lovely time because the weather was good and the kids were able to use the swimming pool and the tennis court. The house was nice and comfortable as well. My only criticism is the fridge in the kitchen is very old and doesn’t shut very well. You have to really push it hard to seal. That could certainly do with replacing.

I booked this property for my hens weekend away for 15 people, it was fantastic everyone loved the property it was quiet & secluded but not to far from shops and vineyards. The property was clean and well kept. The pool and outdoor areas were awesome and the view over the vineyards was beautiful! The staff were friendly and so helpful with any questions! I had an unforgettable hens weekend and will definitely be booking again for a girls weekend away!

Fantastic family getaway among the vines
We stayed here recently for a significant family birthday and had a great weekend. The house is very well set up for a big group and the pool and tennis court were also well used during our stay. Everything was clean, kitchen was well-equipped, the living room was spacious and the deck was the perfect place to sit and look out over the vines. It all felt very private, with no-one else around us. Dinner at Yellow Billy on the main road opposite the Brewhouse was also lovely. Check-in was easy and Pete responded quickly to any queries. I would highly recommend this property for a large group getaway.

huge house with plenty of room. not living on top of anyone or with anyone else around you. stayed here with a group of girls for my birthday and all wineries are close by. pool is great too!

“The property was amazing. We loved our stay. It comfortably fit our three families and was fabulous for our get together. It had enough space, plenty of bedding, blankets and all the good stuff that makes it comfy. Honestly, we really loved this property. We even rang HVS with a query and were quickly attended to which was really great. Being located on a property with an amazing brewery really made it special.”??

Wonderful wedding weekend.
A perfect fit for our daughter’s wedding at Ironbark Hill. Wonderful to be on-site in such a beautiful setting. Being on-site took away some of the stress of this momentous occasion. It was lovely to be able to accommodate close family and to have the bridesmaids accommodate in the Retreat. ??

Wonderful venue for the whole family!
The Retreat at Ironbark Hill was brilliant for the family for our daughters wedding at The beautiful Ironbark Hill wedding venue. the house was well equipped, comfortable and the living area larger than appeared in the photos. The bedrooms were spacious, and the outlook tranquil across the vineyards. In spring and summer it would be amazing to se the green vines growth and use the pool.
