No Stay and still no refund
This was a bogus property listing on vrbo. When the “check-in” time got closer and we still had no instructions and no contact with the “host”, I contacted vrbo with concern. They insisted that their policy is that if the host does not contact a guest within 4 hours of a stay, it’s an automatic refund. IT’S BEEN 3 WEEKS!!! We had just arrived in a foreign country, jet lagged with luggage and 2 kids in tow, and never heard from the host, never got keys, never stayed. We had to find a hotel and shell out thousands more since it was last-minute during a holiday weekend. Somehow my case is still “pending” and I’m out all of the cost for a stay that never existed. Never ever again will we trust vrbo. Their policies are unbelievably against the guest. How can you take full payment up front for properties that may not even be real? What is the vetting process for properties? How can you only leave a 4 hour window for the host to contact a guest when a guest has taken weeks to plan an entire trip around this property? And worst of all, how can you hold onto someone’s money for a service that was never provided? And send an email asking for a review ?!?! It’s almost hilarious.
